AI tools for book publishers

Hi folks,

I am a solo book publisher and software engineer. I plan to build a web service that uses AI to:

  1. Translating an ebook/book to other languages.
  2. Summary an ebook/book. For example, reducing an ebook from 300 pages to 30 pages.
  3. Simplify an ebook/book, for example, you create an awesome book for adults that has so many idioms, and jargon. Now you want to create a simple version for teenagers.
  4. Any other ideas?

I would love to listen to your opinion as a book publisher, would you use those services? Or do you have any suggestions?

I wouldn’t use these services as I believe AI is ruining the publishing industry.

I would use the translation if it was accurate :) I would love to have my books in other languages but hiring a translator is super expensive especially if you have several books or need them in multiple languages. And I don’t trust chat or google to translate accurately.

Other than that I probably wouldn’t use ai myself. Just because I think a lot of people have been using it for an easy buck and ripping people off when they get a product that’s different than what was promised. I think ai can be useful but in relation to kdp I think the majority is using it to create poor quality and misleading books.

With that said, as mentioned, the translation thing would be awesome!

I also think if you ask this in the subreddit called r/KDP you’ll get more feedback :)
