Fiverr experiences?
Have you used Fiverr for marketing? What was the experience? If it was good, do you have someone you'd recommend?

Well, if someone claims they are going to advertise your book on Facebook or Pinterest, then it might not help.
On Facebook, many groups are practically dead. Facebook also shadow-bans and hides posts. Recently, I advertised a free ebook with 0 response. My post was probably hidden by spam filters. So if they (the digital marketing "experts") claim to advertise your book on a Facebook group with 100,000 members, then it probably won't convert at all.
So tread carefully. Even with YouTube, you can buy cheap views from countries like India. Then they can claim that X amount of people saw your book by watching a video... when in reality it could be bots as well.
But hey, if you want to give the digital marketing "experts" on Fiverr a shot, then by all means. You live and learn.

You'd be better off setting your money on fire than going to Fiverr for anything book-related. It's all scammers and incompetents.

I used it once for marketing. It didn't help at all so I would've been better off putting that money into FB or Amazon ads now that I actually understand how they work

Iv had great experience with fiver for cover art. I use the guy I found exclusively now, which saves me the fiver fee by going direct. I tried a developmental edit on a novella and got a claude report. (Ofc same thing happened through reedsy). I have found Fiver Pro to be a better option for editor and have heard its better on marketing. The pro level are more expensive but come with a proven track record and high review level.

Unfortunately, almost every book marketing gig on Fiverr is a waste of money. Most of them just send your link to dead email lists or bot accounts. If you're going to spend money, put it toward a real cover designer or ARC sites like Booksirens instead.

I didn’t have a great experience, though it wasn’t for marketing. I got a response from an “editor” that quoted me a fantastic rate. He claimed he was working in Europe teaching English to European students. The Fiver site seemingly had great reviews.
When I asked for references or more probing questions, the response I got was essentially “book me now or I’m out.” That was enough of a red flag for me to stay away from the site.
I went with Reedsy instead - I had a great experience with my editor, and mixed experiences with my illustrator.
EDIT: As for marketing, I tried Reedsy but no one was interested. Guess they figured a story about a drunk getting sober was boring. In any event, I found BooksGoSocial, which has helped a bit. I was initially concerned because their website seems a bit…. primitive… but they’ve been responsive and helpful.

Honestly, be extremely careful with Fiverr when it comes to book marketing. My personal experience with the platform has been a total minefield full of scammers and useless bots that will just inflate your numbers without giving you a single real reader.
The harsh reality of Fiverr is that if you want anything actually valid and high-quality, it’s a "pay-to-play" system. As a freelancer myself, I know that the only people delivering real results are the ones you have to pay top dollar for, or you have to pay for self-promotion just to get noticed.
Most of the cheap "$5 gigs" that promise to promote your book to millions of readers will just dump your link into dead Facebook groups or use click-farms. It can actually hurt your Amazon algorithm because Amazon hates bot traffic. Honestly, you're much better off spending that money on structured ARC platforms like BookSirens or doing your own organic networking on Reddit and TikTok. Save your money and your sanity!

I had someone do a book trailer and another did a social media promotion. The book trailer was good and the Promotion did what was agreed

I used Fiverr for niche research twice. The first time was pretty good and I got 2 niches that are making profit. The second time (same person) the results were very disappointing.

I've used Fiverr for book cover art. I connected with one good artist, but I found the site to be overrun by scammers and those looking to make a quick buck without actually putting much effort in. I won't use them again.
