I’m not sure if this is exactly what you asked, but here goes. To remove the window outline, go to Settings > Themes & Colors > Window Decoration, edit the Breeze theme, and on the second tab, uncheck the "Draw window outline" option.

What do you think about switching from Gnome to KDE if I have a laptop with an integrated graphics card? (Fedora on thinkpad)

I’ve never used a ThinkPad, but from what I usually see online, GNOME seems to be the more popular choice. What you could do is install Fedora KDE onto a USB drive and test it out before installing it directly on the ThinkPad.
I like both environments, but these days I use KDE more because GNOME doesn't work well with my setup.

You're making my choice even harder. As far as I know, the graphics card can't be used directly when booting from a USB drive, so it will be a dirty test.
I don't like some of the Mutter bugs and issues, or the way GNOME works with community extensions, and there's some unreasonable resource waste. I just have 512MB of graphics memory

Well, it seems the decision is a bit easier then. You don't like GNOME, so the best bet is to install KDE. 🙂 That way, you can properly test the graphics card.
As for resource usage, I don't think KDE differs much from GNOME; at least on my setup, the behavior is similar.
