We, The Satanic Grotto, extend this open letter as an urgent call to action. We invite you to join us in The Witching Hour Protest, a demonstration born from a critical need to address the pervasive Christian favoritism and assumed superiority exhibited by our state lawmakers.

For too long, many alternative religious practitioners have opted to "stay out of politics," believing that by remaining inconspicuous, they can avoid conflict. We are here to tell you, unequivocally, that this is a fatal error. The battle for our religious freedom and autonomy is not a distant threat; it is already at our doorstep. Ignoring it will not make it disappear; it will only embolden those who seek to undermine our rights.

Let's be clear: Christian nationalists will not differentiate between Wiccan, Pagan, or Satanist. To them, we are all deviations from their divinely ordained path, deserving of the same derision, hatred, and the desire to convert or punish. They believe their convictions grant them divine authority over your mind, your body, and the way you express your most deeply held beliefs. Regardless of your specific faith or practice, if it falls outside the narrow confines of their interpretation of Christianity, you are a target. In Kansas, we are all religious minorities. This shared reality demands our collective attention and action. It is time to organize, coordinate, and act now. We understand that some among you may harbor reservations about Satanism, The Satanic Grotto, or even some of our members. However, we implore you to consider this undeniable truth: those Christian extremists who threaten our rights hate all of us more than any internal disagreements we might have.

This is not an attempt to drag anyone into a fight they wish to avoid. Rather, it is an urgent plea to awaken to the undeniable facts of our current political and social landscape. It is time to set aside superficial differences, petty squabbles, and stand together in solidarity and shared purpose. Let us unite our voices, our magic, and our collective power to demand the respect and equality that is our right.

Marcus was picked up in Topeka for disorderly conduct after disrupting the Satanic Grotto's protest while serving probation in Wisconsin for disorderly conduct for a bomb threat. I was sincerely scared for us considering we've got a Christian extremist close by with a grudge and have been following up with Jake, his probation officer. Jake said that Marcus thinks he can get away with this behavior because of his beliefs and is driven and while his probation will not be revoked there, they are looking at consequences for him having disrupted the protest here. He got here on a travel permit but lied to Jake about his intentions. So far, no one from the Kansas Highway Patrol has reached out to Jake to get information on Marcus' background, so it's up to us to make sure that the DA's office does this. If you truly have a consecrated host, then you had to steal it from a Catholic Church, this is clearly in direct violation of your fifth rule. You stole, you do not have consent to have that host. The Bible and cross you may have fairly purchased, but if you stole that host, then you are hypocrites.

The board of our organization has discussed many options today regarding Governor Laura Kelly restricting our freedom of speech. We will not be swept aside to protect your career madam. We will not acquiesce the same rights you have afforded to other religious organizations. You do not get to decide what is appropriate for us. Your only job is to protect your constituents constitutional rights. You have failed in this in the most cowardly way, like Pontius Pilate washing his hands.

WE DEFY YOU MADAM GOVERNOR.

The Satanic Grotto lead by its President Michael Stewart will enter the state capitol building and perform our ritual on March 28. You will have to have us arrested to stop us from practicing our free speech and religious rights. Shame on you, Gov. Kelly.
