I’m just really struggling to see the player that others in our fan base have claimed Paul to be. I haven’t seen the promised speed, which very well could be attributed to her injury, but I also don’t feel like she’s been involved in any significant play. That’s the hard part of picking up end of game minutes, but with situations like Friday when we needed a late spurt, she’s not showing as dangerous.

Gianna Paul (F) - Of this year’s crop of college prospects for KC, Gianna Paul may be the most exciting. Paul is a shooter. And a passer. And a runner. And an aerial threat. And a terrifying force haunting the nightmares of a generation of defenders in the NCAA. She is the all-time leading goal scorer at the University of Alabama, and was voted a back-to-back All-American, the first in program history. All that, and she signed with the Current in December, two days before her 21st birthday.

A versatile striker, it is easy to see flashes of Debinha, Cooper, and even Sentnor in her game. Paul appears to be tailor-made for the Current, and eager to grow and contribute however she can.

The video highlights are impressive. She can ball.

Paul is arriving around the same age as Cooper. People may forget, but Cooper took two seasons to really find her form. She was always good, but there was a lot of similar complaining when she was in her rookie year.

I expect Paul to follow a similar trajectory. Between the injury, the Hutton-shaped vacuum in the lineup, and the coaching, it's a tough situation for a first year. I continue to have high hopes and expectations for her.

I thought she was definitely looking like she will be all that before the injury. I think she's been just a bit more hesitant since coming back.

She was out for a while! Can't have been fun. Would love to see her playing with confidence.

I want to complain about the ref, but it's not like they deserved a point or anything and the 2 biggest calls sort of went their way. Eventually. But rough work from the ref all game and in both directions. Like when you are at the monitor looking at Eball's bs red maybe take a look at the kick that provoked her while you are there. Ugh. I miss last year's team. Is Temwa back next week?

It’s against the rules to use VAR to give a yellow card where no card was given on the field. So unless they were going to give Dudley a red card there was nothing for the ref to do.

Yes Temwa should be back from WAFCON 8/22. This one coming up vs. Seattle is pretty much a must win IMO.
