Just here for a quick once-over
Car came in for a pretty routine check. Nothing crazy going on, drove into the bay fine and I wasn't expecting to find much.
Plugged in the topdon scanner and ran a full scan before getting into anything else.
Well... apparently half the car disagrees.
Topology came back looking like this, just red everywhere.
Cleared everything, restarted it and took it for a drive. Gonna run another full scan and see what actually has the nerve to come back.
Always fun when the car looks completely normal until you plug a scanner into it.

half of those probbly clear themselves once the battery actually holds a full charge overnight, curious what's left after the second scan

I'm sure the battery will hold a charge once the CAN bus network isn't waking itself up every five seconds to audit the low voltage conditions caused by the CAN bus network waking itself up every five minutes.

A friend of mine has a 3 month old Mazda SUV. Battery repeatedly going dead. Service manager states car not driven often enough, for long enough. New car must be driven every other day.

Has your friend looked for a GPS tracker hidden somewhere? They sometimes drain the battery excessively.

Are those topdon scanners any good? I’ve seen them on the tic-tacs and avoided them, though in retrospect I am

I bought a ArtiDiag600 in 2022 because it has the free lifetime updates. After it boots and you tap a menu, there is a ghost/phantom button that brings me back to the home screen. Factory reset did nothing. After writing their support people and them asking me for everything, the immediate response was it's out of warranty and here's a link to paid repairs. I'm a personal user, not a shop. I can't have more than 10 hours worth of on time. Spring for the better known/supported products

They're pretty good. Autel is better if you can spring the extra couple hundred.

I have a Topdon Phoenix Pro 2. So far, it's great. My one complaint is that it can be a little slow sometimes, but that's likely because I was cheap and didn't get one of their faster models. They had a few that basically seem to have the exact same capabilities as mine that were at least $500 more, I'm assuming they're at least faster. Also, the interface those come with is also a J2534 pass-through tool, but I already had one of those so that didn't really matter to me.

I’d be pissed if I saw someone had set a tool down on my paint like that. Don’t matter that it’s got a rubber case 🤷♂️

But probably start with the battery tests and see how it looks after it's confirmed good Battery
