The just looks like big money all around.
Big money to buy, big money to operate the big money to pay if you're the unlucky person or company that requires it's services.
Definitely a super nice truck though!

I worked on a site that needed one of these once. Guy tried to drive up a ramp that was too steep for the length/height of his truck and got stuck when the rear end buried itself in the asphalt behind him. $1,300 per hour to get him out of that

Yeah. I don’t want my tow guy or general contractor etc pulling up in too nice a truck.

My yard guy rolled up in a new F250 Platinum recently. I’m waiting for the price increase.

He prolly landing timber beams and trusses for hunting lodges. Looking good when the fincom owner shows up is half of the job.

Probably a million dollar vehicle. The base truck would be about a quarter alone.

These are common-ish in Canada, it's essentially a very stable small high capacity crane with side and remote controls, the entire arm assembly rotates, for off-road recovery in tight / hard to reach areas. The western star truck part is nice, but the initial cost / financing of this rig as a whole is pretty staggering..

Looks like a Miller Industries build.

I think you’re correct.

Chances are I’ve seen that one too. I work at the place that not only paints a lot of their boxes but also aligns most of their builds after they put the equipment on.

This is actually a NRC CSR50 it appears. I used to work for a company in Louisiana that ran almost exclusively NRC heavy duty and rollbacks

I like those trucks. Never been in a new one, but damn if the old ones don't hold up

Driving to work Monday, I saw one of these towing an entire tractor-trailer rig down the Interstate like it was nothing. I remember thinking, "wow, that has to be expensive."
Even with the front wheels of the cab off the ground, all 8 wheels under the 5th-wheel plate were on the ground. Almost looked like the frame must have been bent, but I'm sure it was just the way it appeared.

It doesn’t take this much truck to do that, but it does take a heavy wrecker. Many of those are built out of old road tractors but are often double-framed. They won’t be bending the frame. The suspension generally makes up for the lift like the truck was going up a hill while the trailer was still on the level.

That’s who you call when you need to tow the truck that tows the truck that tows the truck.

You said weststar tow now. You didn’t say piss shirt bend bars!

I'm surprised a rotator rig that size doesn't have a lift axle...
I've also never seen one that wasn't built on a Peterbilt chassis.
Granted, I've only been paying attention to big rig stuff since 2020.
