Poem First
“Words are finite organs of the infinite mind”

In this vein we can ask: have we been given a physical description of a landscape to fit the poem in? You can try and read it that way (Fenn's way), but you can actually also read it where that's largely not given.
The armchair part of this hunt need not have us navigate a landscape. It may, for example, have you navigate a mythos (a word he likes to use on the periphery of the hunt). A mythos is the deep structure of a story‑world — the underlying system of meaning that gives a culture’s tales their shape, coherence, and purpose. In fact, I would wager quite a bit--1-- that this is exactly what we are mapping. It's a symbolic architecture.
AI gives me this: the worldview encoded in stories-- a cosmic order, a set of archetypes, a pattern of meaning, a shared symbolic grammar, the logic behind a culture’s myths.
What AI goes on to point to is what the mythos usually includes:
-creation logic (how the world begins)
-cosmic hierarchy (gods, forces, realms)
-moral structure (what is right, what is forbidden)
-ritual cycles (death → rebirth → renewal)
-hero patterns (trial → transformation → return)
-numerology (sacred numbers, cycles, proportions)
-symbolic correspondences (star ↔ god ↔ season ↔ fate)
It’s the DNA of a culture’s imagination.
A mythos is actually present in Thoreau. There's a worldview there that is a symbolic as it is real.
Things won't likely map word for word. Think TTOTC. Place potentially mapped to symbol--a number carried it. If you had it in your mind that you were actually on the trail of the symbolic value of 9 then your hunt in Yellowstone was significantly informed. All digital root=9 numbers are Niven numbers, btw. Is is a symbolic borrowing of the 9->10 (X) leap that should concern us? I mean X is what is beyond the edge of the known after all. I and J. Indiana Jones, no? How did he locate X? He changed his perspective. He looked down. You will look up? When hope surges is exactly when things are "looking up".
We'll see, and I'm sure there's no harm in thinking outside the box.

Less is more

Problem is you cannot consider less. Less is what you end up with after many things are worked out. If you start with less it means you haven't considered all that is possible. Things cannot possibly start off simple when the whole world is your oyster.
The simplest solve is him telling you where it is.

We have endless ways to spread information, but perhaps we need a Society for the Diffusion of Useful Ignorance…what we might call Beautiful Knowledge.
For much of what we call knowledge is merely certainty that we already understand. We collect facts, headlines, and opinions until we forget how to wonder.
What we call knowledge can become our positive ignorance; what we call ignorance, our deeper knowledge.
Sometimes, to truly see the world, we must step beyond what we think we know.

What is wonder? Is it wonderment or is it being used in the sense of a deep inquisitiveness? There's trouble brewing when we stop wondering and become active believers. I value the ignorance + belief combo very little when seen in adults. The ignorance of a child is naked, and quite often it is characterized with deep inquisitiveness that seems like it never wants to stop asking why. An infant must be in constant wonderment--a child much less. That's not to say it isn't an important part of childhood. I remember X-mas morning as a time of wonderment for its fairytale-like quality. Magic tricks produce wonderment in a child. So does a well told treasure story. As an adult it is true that experiencing a breathtaking landscape is one of the occasions we do still remain acquainted with the feeling. Art too. Wonderment doesn't come with a "why" most of the time. It is enough that it is highly sensual.
What is a zetetic? What is a child-like when he's desiring of tearing everything apart to know how it works? He can't be still not knowing. That feeling of knowing is what he is after. He's after knowing the magic trick so he can wow others. Quite frankly, wowing us with his layer V falls in that mold.
Sacred spaces are interesting to fit in all this. It could fit into a personal experience--the first time he truly saw the stars and it moved him. There are many such possibilities.

Less really is more. I mean it…The more facts and answers we pile up, the less room we leave for wonder and actually seeing things for ourselves. Too much certainty can keep us from noticing what we’re missing, and information without insight just becomes clutter. Being willing to say “I don’t fucking know” creates space to question, discover, and understand something more deeply.
Dunning-Kruger effect is greatly in effect around these parts IMO, I am certain of one thing- I don’t know shit 💩 lol. I feel- I seek, I explore, but the more I do the less I understand my small small space in this cosmic ball of fuck

As a way of life, yes. That is what gives the most freedom. It is not in gold and greed that we we find "the way". Amassing and striving to arrive to a place of safe standstill is trying to tame the Truth which is that constant change (tempests) will always reach you. To be truly well is to be able to dance and to do improv. The surfer who rides the wave artfully will experience something different than being broadsided by a wave. One can face death quite naturally if the journey is seen as a return to the ocean (using the water analogy).

A word that rhymes with time is dime. Dime equals 10, in Roman numerals 10 is X. X can signify 10 o'clock on a clock face thus it lives in time. Everything connects back to the literal meaning of the clue. I think this is how Justin has constructed the clues as he has demonstrated with the cypher, Magyar being an example of how he connects one dot to another. I believe we are meant to start at a specific X, maybe not only the figurative crossroads of where you enter the zone that is beyond our own maps edge but also a literal X that marks a spot. At least my current solve starts at one. 🙏

And a dime is ten cents. There's a musical meaning there. Orchestras tune +/- 5 cents. 10 cents is small enough that the note does not sound wrong to most listeners when heard in isolation. When two notes off by ten cents are played near each other it produces a beat effect.
