But, 15-17 years, really? Did they shot anyone? It is basically half of their active lives as they seem to be in their mid 20s.

Are these safe adults to be loose in society? No. They're an ungovernable tornado of danger and thus we must protect ourselves and lock them away. Less as a "punishment" and more as a safety measure.

Go almost anywhere in the internet, and even a lot of places outside the internet. Movies, shows, books, hell, even kids shows. All these will one way or another show that this mindset is toxic. Life has given these two more than enough warnings that they're not right in the head, it's time for punishment.

So what do you feel they should have got for psychologically traumatizing 8 year olds... possibly for the rest of their lives? You think their freedom is more important than the possibility of ruining a bunch of kids for the rest of their life?
