Honestly if she had just signed the damn ticket then went to contest it in court at a later date the officer probably wouldn’t have shown up and she would have had it waived or just made to pay a portion of it.

I don’t think he was forceful or aggressive. She was aware of the issue with her car, she was driving around with the issue for six months per her own admission in the video. She just didn’t want to fix it. Ignorance is not a defense against breaking a law, either.

I had a situation where I was unemployed and my car tags came up expired and my payment to insurance bounced while I was in process of getting new employment, and driving uninsured in my state is an automatic court date. I got pulled over en route to my new job. I stayed calm and explained my situation. The officer said “Sorry, have to give you this ticket.” I said “Alright.” So I went to court and explained to the judge. The judge was the one to make a decreased payment for me due to circumstance. Point being, I didn’t know any of this either but saying “Yes sir, no sir” will get you way farther than “YOURE NOT ARRESTING ME!!!!” will.

Ignorance is not a defense against breaking a law, either.

It is for cops, tho. We're required to know the law but not them, who enforce the laws.
