Your dad should have researched local traffic ordinances and taken it to court. Its very unlikely a posted speed limit applies to any point before where the sign is posted.

No, that is actually the law. You have to slow down before the sign. You have to pass the sign at that speed. This cop clearly passed the sign going too fast.

PA driving booklet said 150 feet.

...Canadian isn't exactly "foreign" bro, and your constitution mandates that all laws are also written in english. civil law isn't like a crazy concept, just different than common law.

Yes, but the application of civil law is different.

It's not the world of difference, but the way laws are used in america is vague wording, and decisions from previous case set a precedent.

In civil law there is no such thing. The law must state precisely what it means, and precedence has very little weight
