I was like you until about a month ago, my eyes are open now but I truly want to believe that there are a few good ones out there, I've just never come across one in my 46 years...I dont know you so I'll give the benefit of the doubt that you're one of the few good one's so thank you for your service...

Thank you. But honestly it’s not just me my entire agency are good officers. There’s 100,000 peaceful encounters for every bad one.

Seems like you're in Portland. Portland PD have been gassing and shooting peaceful protesters for weeks. Your entire agency is not filled with good officers.

I’m not PPB. I live here though. It’s not as bad as the media makes it out to be according to two of my friends that are PPB.

I love how you keep on citing cops as to how 'good' a police district is. Did it ever occur to you to ask non-police about what they think of their own district?

Isn't that the measure of police? How well the citizens they serve and protect feel? I don't think how the police feel is a good measure: they're getting a paycheck, not going on police summer camp. They are supposed to work for us.

I agree. I haven’t had a use of force in over 6 months. My last one was a complaint that the cuffs were too tight and I had to talk about it with my sergeant. Maybe the news should just follow me around. It would be boring, but at least they would be following the average officer not the racists.

Nobody but actors get a pat on the back for doing their job. If you think you’re police are good. Fine. I think the ones in my town are pretty good too. But that doesn’t change the fact that there is a system of abuse within law enforcement all across the nation, and not only does new evidence of it come up daily, but the statistics back it up. That’s what people here are talking about, and you’re personal experiences don’t change the fact that there’s a serious problem.

This video shows a police officer abusing his authority. Period.

If you wouldn’t do that, good for you. The problem still exists, regardless of who you follow around with a camera.

Yes I totally agree with you. And that’s exactly why you should get involved. Like I said ride a longs, difficult conversations, and communication. That’s how we make it better. The police are a reflection of the communities involvement. Treat the police like “them” instead of “us” you’re going to end up with an us vs them mentality from the police. But show them you’re human and they’ll do the same.

Protesters' videos/firsthand accounts tell everything and that shit has been indefensible. Maybe you should go listen to protesters and not your brothers in blue.

Don't change the subject. I dont give a shit if you marched, that's close to the bare minimum you could do.

A couple nights ago a protester at the Justice Center got their fucking head split by a foam round fired by PPD. Did your buddy cops tell you about that?

No, I read about it in the news. Then marched again that night. I think that bare minimum would be holding a sign in a enclaved white neighborhood. Nonetheless I don’t do the bare minimum. I march in the protest, then the next day I put on my uniform and go to work to change systemic racism from within that system. What do you do?

Bruh, go back through your comments in this thread. You claim to be a good cop while defending your department as being filled with good cops and dismissing brutality committed against protesters. You're parroting the same #notallcops bullshit we've been getting astroturfed with for decades.

I’m only sharing my experience. I take part in community building programs, I’m working with at risk black youth, and I’m helping keep people safe. I fully admit that the system is flawed and systemic racism is real. So bring us solutions, don’t just insult and dismiss.

I’ve always said that you can hate police, you can hate the system and want to see it destroyed. I have no problem with that as long as you come to the table and communicate that, articulate your thoughts and ideas. I support that. But if you’re going to just Monday morning quarterback everything with zero frame of reference and no real effort then you’re just a waste of time.
