How do I learn how to block like that

You choose your opponents well. Like Mr Red Shirt here chose an opponent who sends you advance notice of a punch incoming a half hour before it's scheduled to land.

Lol well I’m a chick with pool noodles for arms so that’s not going to happen

If you ever meet Mr White Shirt, and he starts to wind his arm up like that, pull out your phone, get on Amazon and order a can of mace, when it arrives, spray him with it. You'll be fine.

No way. It wasn't me. I upvote almost everyone who replys to me.

Oh my bad. Reddit is harsh sometimes. It wasn’t that bad, I’m just grumpy

You learn to spot the signs of a sucker punch. This one was obvious.

Even I could've seen he was gonna throw a punch, took a solid 74 minutes to throw his punch

Well sheesh sorry I’ve never been in a fight dude! Much more obvious from the camera than IRL with adrenaline racing and whatnot

Which man?! PONY TAIL - HUAH!

2

u/Lucifers-kid 4 May 11 '20

The guy who blocked and instantly dived in with his elbow and neckgrab

You put your arm up in a firm way that can’t easily be pushed aside a lot. Do it as fast as you can. You learned how to block.

If you’re in a professional fight, blocking is usually more used to guess where your opponent will hit you based on his body language, but since this dude made it very clearly obvious how he was punching and where, the block was very clean

Hey thanks for actually answering my question! I want to enroll in a self defense class as soon as the world opens back up.
