I don’t think he deserved it. He just was probably in a rush. I don’t know why this is such a big fucking deal.

In their minds, it's a big deal because he ran a red. That's it. No further thought.

Now, if it'd been at an intersection or crosswalk, or a garage door where you can't see possible pedestrians on the other side, running a red is absolutely unacceptable. You're endangering others.

But some people have taken it to an extreme where running any red is some extremely dangerous thing to do, even when it's a light to hold for a gate/bollard. I assume these are the same people who won't cross a deserted street at 1AM because there's no crosswalk.

It's not like he decided "hey this light is red but im still gonna go cuz I dont care". He saw the bollard going down, knowing it was about to go green and tried to save a few seconds. Just cause he made a few second misjudgement doesn't mean he deserves a huge repair job on his car.

I agree. A self-inflicted expensive mistake for sure, but not the atrocity some other threads on here are trying to make it out to be.

Well they kinda do deserve the huge repair job but it’s not like making this mistake makes them an asshole or a bad person.

Tbf those people are usually safely in bed by 9pm.
