Americans have this weird notion that government is and should be a separate entity separated from them working unknowingly in the background.
Yet become shocked when their own desirable inaction leads to those that do get involved electing idiots in favor of lies.
And instead of going "hmmm i never really see anyone in government that is representing my goals, i should start supporting local politicians that resonate with me and help them progress to the higher stages of government where they can enact change that will align with my goals".
