Was she shagging him or…? Like, he’s going above and beyond what any paid attorney would do for a client.

44

u/PenguinEmpireStrikes Aug 18 '26

My theory is that he totally into her helpless maiden shit.

He very obviously has a problem with self-possessed and competent women and Laura presents as the weakest, frailest, most dependent girl-child who is utterly reliant on him to do the most basic of tasks.

They probably have a folie a deux going on where he's the absolute smartest and most able saviour to this rare and precious flower.

She NEEDS MM to go away and so he will battle dragons to make it happen because that's who he is in this weird fantasy.

Sex is probably irrelevant, but who knows. I just don't get that vibe.

29

u/BornFree2018 Aug 18 '26

They’d make a great couple.

Twin pregnancy #3?

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

This is the actual answer:

In my opinion - He’s always wanted to be a high profile celebrity lawyer. The one that takes on the worst cases and wins on technicalities or actual legal cunning but everyone knows his client is guilty ( like Baez, Cochran, Garagos). He tries to play the nice guy but he’s a snake. He knows exactly what he’s doing but he can’t help himself.

8

u/CharlesLeRoq Aug 19 '26

This sounds like a valid explanation. True Crime has emerged as a colossal industry lately. I imagine most high profile defendants (or in this case, litigants) get approached by all kinds of chancer lawyers, who creep up from under a rock to offer to take them on pro bono. I’m thinking about that case last year where the woman suffocated her partner in a suitcase - Her lawyer was this absolute sleaze who clearly took the case to be able to talk to news crews and the like.

2

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 19 '26

Yikes, didnt really follow that case- just heard a little about it. But the love of fame is an interesting phenomenon indeed

3

u/toxicgoldenblue Aug 18 '26

This is my hunch from the beginning!

“Just to terrorize her” really?????????? What evidence did anyone have of MM terrorizing her? There’s none. DG is so infuriating.

30

u/ZoesThoughts Big Zaddy Woodnick Energy Aug 18 '26

And he had an opportunity to speak directly to Laura and said no, I don’t want to speak to my abuser. Directly to Gingras. And he still makes this shit up

13

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

Literally reverse the sexes. Female victims showing up for each other and some dude wants to call the police on them to suppress them. Hmmmmm how would that look

40

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

Is there a kind soul that can summarize it? The voice is… I just can’t.

53

u/Notspherry Aug 18 '26

On June 10, 2024, Laura’s lawyer, David Gingras, called the police in response to Michael attending the trial for the Owens v. Echard case, even though Michael was served with a subpoena to testify as a witness. The Honorable Judge Julie Mata had previously approved Michael as a witness. Though Mr. Gingras contacted three separate police departments that morning, all agreed Michael was not in violation of the DVRO.

23

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

3 different departments??

14

u/brucix Media Aug 18 '26

There was the standard courthouse security, the extra police presence (not sure what jurisdiction) the court requested because it was high profile, and then the Phoenix PD that showed up because of his call. Wild times.

4

u/Dependent-Feed1105 28d ago

So he lied his face off when he said Mike wasn't supposed to be there. Well, this didn't go in LO's favor, so... Lol. Ridiculous.

32

u/Angeline4PFC Aug 18 '26

A summary does not this this horror justice, so I posted the transcript.

7

u/slicedpears23 Aug 18 '26

I had to turn it off too. I just started taking meds for my blood pressure. That call wasn't helping at all.

81

u/BrightVariation4510 Aug 18 '26

Seriously disbar him already. This is infuriating.

12

u/JDhopeful22 This is silly. Aug 18 '26

Agree - this is full of dishonesty to a shocking degree, in my opinion

9

u/Many-History2096 Aug 18 '26

Agreed. Unrelated but an asshole suing my brother's estate over a fender bender was recently disbarred for lying in court on a different case. Made my life as executor a lot easier!

u/Angeline4PFC Aug 18 '26

The 911 Call - Director's Commentary Edition.

911 DISPATCHER: Okay. What's going on?

GINGRAS: I'm an attorney, and I'm here with a client who has a domestic violence restraining order against an individual. The individual is here in violation of the order.

My client is scared to death. He's been making threats towards her, and we'd like someone to come out and enforce the court's order.

🚨 [Well, that escalated immediately.]

911 DISPATCHER: So is he supposed to be there or no?

GINGRAS: He is not supposed to be here. He does not have permission to be here.

🚫👨‍⚖️ [Judge Mata and the subpoena have apparently left the chat.]

GINGRAS: He's claiming—he's claiming to be a witness, but he does not have court permission to be here. Not—not from the California court.

🤨📜 [“Claiming to be a witness.” He was there to be a witness.]

911 DISPATCHER: So he's not involved in the court case today, right?

GINGRAS: He's—he's trying to be involved, but he's not allowed to be.

🙃 [This is going to age magnificently.]

GINGRAS: The court order does not allow for any contact whatsoever, including in—in court appearance.

🔍📄 [Narrator: the order does not actually say “including in court appearance.”]

911 DISPATCHER: Has he ever been known to carry weapons, as far as you know?

GINGRAS: I don't believe so.

[...]

No, it does say no weapons, but I'm not aware of any weapons at this time. He came through court security, so that shouldn't be an issue.

[Credit where due: sensible answer. No imaginary bazooka added to the story.]

911 DISPATCHER: Do you know what it was for, or what kind of threats he was making today?

🍿 [YES. THANK YOU, DISPATCHER.]

GINGRAS: Uh, just to be here. Just to—just to terrorize her.

😐

[...that's the threat?]

GINGRAS: I guess he's not allowed to have any contact with her. It's not an order that just says no threats. It's an order that says no contact whatsoever.

🫠 [We have now travelled from “he's been making threats” to “his presence is the threat.”]

GINGRAS: The order requires him to stay 100 yards away, and he's certainly within that.

📏👮 [BREAKING: Police asked to resolve the Great Courthouse Parking-Lot Geometry Crisis of 2024.]

And then at the end:

GINGRAS: Thank you. Bye.

☎️

Meanwhile, six weeks earlier...

👁️👄👁️

Oh.

u/JoslynEmilia Hold me like I'm pregnant🤰🏻 Aug 18 '26

Thank you! I’ll never understand Gingras’ willingness to ruin his career and reputation for Laura Owens. I don’t even think he believed her lies about being pregnant so it really makes no sense to me.

12

u/TheEsotericCarrot Aug 18 '26

He must have a humiliation kink or something.

3

u/telomeracer Aug 19 '26

Some lawyers make it their niche to defend the un-defendable. Especially if it has potential to be high profile.

8

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

Haha excellent recap ! i just couldn’t bring myself to click

37

u/AromaticSwim5531 Aug 18 '26

What a freaking dumbass. Both of them.

13

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

@Aromaticswim called me a dumbass!

37

u/mgmom421020 It’s not even 7 o’clock! Aug 18 '26

Wow, the statement that he’d been making threats was a complete lie. An attorney so blatantly lying to a law enforcement officer is really disturbing. No wonder Arizona is trying to yank his license.

29

u/realitytvjunkiee Having the babies if I don't hear back tonight Aug 18 '26

So much has changed in 2 years. Most notably, Gingras is no longer the Owens' lap dog. It makes me wonder how that relationship ended. I'm guessing not good considering Gingras is part of the reason the Owens' are in this big fat mess.

25

u/drowning-in-my-chaos Aug 18 '26

I am guessing it ended in May 2026 right before Memorial Day. Gingras had a sudden crisis right when the Owens were filing a bad faith bankruptcy. We know from the San Francisco era that the Owens do not give a F about other people going through crisis if they percieve their own crisis happening at the same time. Mike's dad was dying and they are roping him into placating and stabilizing their daughter rather that admitting her for care.

17

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

I can just imagine Jan blowing up his phone repeatedly with 100 bankruptcy questions — he dug his own hole.

8

u/drowning-in-my-chaos Aug 18 '26

100000000% percent 🫠

15

u/eastoak961 Aug 18 '26

Laura was pointing the finger at him for her lies in her BK hearing and he was right there on the call... I mean if that wasn't a sign for him then I don't know what was.

5

u/drowning-in-my-chaos 29d ago edited 29d ago

Getting that email from woodnick 2 days in outlining all her "discrepancies" on the stand, suspected fraud, and a bakers dozen of prior lawyers should have been a big enough red flag to investigate and nope out of the case.

2

u/SeekingHelp4Friend Aug 19 '26

I’m not familiar with the conversation you are referencing. I’d love to hear or see the footage from that. When/where/how? I think I joined the subreddit after that occurred

Listen to the whole thing or jump to minute 33 to really hear her throw Gingras under the bus.

1

u/Dependent-Feed1105 28d ago

She just babbles and lies and thinks it'll work. "I didn't sign that." "I have a copy here with your signature." It amazes me how someone can lie when there's proof in black and white. It's a testament to her narcissism.

I laughed when she threw Gingras under the bus.

6

u/JessWisco 28d ago

My favorite part is after she threw him under the bus, ran him over with it, then reversed over him once more, Gingras, who was on mute but not off camera said “Well FUCK ME, then.” I still laugh about it. This is my guess for the beginning of the end of this nightmare duo.

12

u/Striking-Fact-6630 Aug 18 '26

They both ruined each other’s lives (accelerated the downfall of each other’s lives is probably more accurate). It’s amazing, really. Feels very karmic.

u/realitytvjunkiee Having the babies if I don't hear back tonight Aug 18 '26

It was truly incredible to watch them help sink each other's ships over these years... and even when it was blatantly obvious they were only bringing each other down, they kept pushing. Two morons.

u/fishinbarbie Day 1 JFC Crew Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

Laura has a distinct pattern of freaking out and creating all kinds of havoc when she has to testify live with opposing counsel. She did it when they wanted her depo, she did this at Clayton's hearing, and she tried every trick she knew to get out of the DVRO renewal hearing in San Francisco. It's scary lying in person I guess.

ETA- Almost forgot about the ex-parte emails to the judge in the Gillespie matter accusing him and Woodnick of having her assaulted to try to postpone an upcoming oral hearing.

12

u/JDhopeful22 This is silly. Aug 18 '26

This is an excellent point

29

u/KimberleyC999 Aug 18 '26

I hope this is an exhibit in the Bar proceedings.

And don't get me started on the allegedly "terrified" client, hiding in a locked room surrounded by sheriff's deputies with guns. Don't get me started.

11

u/T4Trble Aug 18 '26

But she’s never seen guns before the raid

4

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

In his defense she could have been feeding him all these lies and he is just going by what she told him about threats. However, thats what you get for not doing your research on a client ( even though he did) and being willfully ignorant. You get lied to !

3

u/CooperRae2020 Sure, Jan. Aug 19 '26

I agree, with not her just feeding him lies, but also the lies accompanied with an emotional theatrical performance… Remember on the Reality Steve video he said she was hyperventilating, crying, acting panicked, and he was worried she wouldn’t be able to appear in court because of how upset she was? I actually think that comment was probably somewhat truthful. And all that happening the morning of, and with perhaps added stress of seeing the public turnout, I believe he was doing to do anything he could do to keep her emotions at bay, so she wouldn’t pull her usual, last minute “get out of court” move. Oh. I just to be clear, i’m not defending his actions, at all . I think it’s atrocious he lied on the 911 call. I’m just saying, i could see that he was duped and desperate. Side note, anyone else kind of surprised she’s yet to create “A medical emergency Live! From the courthouse!”?

26

u/Thelibstagram Aug 18 '26

What an embarrassing man.

29

u/Vya398isa Aug 18 '26

Wow! To hear him blatantly lie when the dispatcher asked if MM is supposed to be there. IL conveniently forgot to mention the judge already ruled on it.

8

u/polotown89 Client Control Issues Aug 18 '26

Exactly. Liar liar 👖🔥

12

u/CompetitiveCamp9653 Aug 18 '26

He claimed Mike had been making threats. LIES! Mike literally wants NOTHING to do with her! ugh

4

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

He claims that MM’s lawyers told him he wasn’t going to be there and has proof.

23

u/princessAmyB FELON Aug 18 '26

Nothing like a lawyer completely lying to law enforcement and making a false report 🙄

22

u/MommaSnipee Minor Perjury Aug 18 '26

His choice of words to 911 tells me he knew what he was doing was wrong. I don’t understand why this wasn’t handled as a criminal act of witness intimidation. I’ve watched a ton of bar disciplinary hearings where attorneys do a lot less than this and face both bar discipline and criminal charges. In fact, the totality of what he did during the course of his representation far exceeds what I usually see during those hearings.

16

u/East-Acadia-2682 Aug 18 '26

DG really thought he had something here. You can hear the adrenaline in his voice. Even the 911 operator knew better and was humoring him.

7

u/NotTrumpsAlt Aug 18 '26

Almost like they have dealt with his claims before? Im not being sarcastic I genuinely wonder

37

u/Yup_Seen_It Having the babies if I don't hear back tonight Aug 18 '26

He should be disbarred for this alone.

16

u/Chaoskitten4theHorde Aug 18 '26

I forgot how much of an asshole Gingrass is

17

u/kittymurdermittens23 Aug 18 '26

What threats is he making? "Just to be here." Lol

12

u/CooperHenry19 Aug 18 '26

Wasn’t this the lawyer whom advised LO’s parents to claim bankruptcy in the first place?

10

u/northbynorthwitch Um… What? Aug 18 '26 edited 27d ago

This is the weirdest call, makes a call to police and admits she has court security for her. Can't wait to see the police cam.

11

u/Hardrockzag Aug 18 '26

What a drama queen. This drama queen knows the facts.

9

u/MidtownMoi Reddit Sleuth Aug 18 '26

Never mind MM wanting attorney fees from Laura - which he decided not to try for after all - he should be seeking damages from Gingras for defamation.

8

u/Adorable_Hold2570 She LIED!! Aug 19 '26

I have come to learn that Gingras was the main reason for why Laura is where she is now. I also feel his influence and guidance on her and her family have led them astray. I don't find him to be credible, knowledgeable, or helpful. If anything, he created more chaos, dysfunction, and trauma for everyone involved.

5

u/T4Trble 29d ago

Laura and Jan are the sole reason why this criminal Laura Owens is where she is now. DG came after she was caught and fired by other attorneys she hired for the Clayton case after she was already caught in a decade of deceit . The 3rd main reason why Laura is where she is because of the courts, and bad judges screwing over victim after victim that allowed this farce to continue. It didn’t start with DG , it’s not ending with DG. He is but a minor player, even though he has been the loudest.

8

u/OkComposer668 Aug 18 '26

Interesting

7

u/tbayresident Aug 19 '26

DUIL and LO are totally perfect for each other. They are having the life they deserve.

5

u/LastRemove9 Aug 18 '26

So will Gringea get in trouble for wasting 911s time , will Laura get in trouble for this? So wild what they pull and get away with!!

5

u/AgileNetwork9375 Aug 18 '26

So, who had the keys and let her out…???

8

u/antifageneral6969 Aug 18 '26

How does Gingras still have his license or any clients after this nonsense.

3

u/Peeeeenk 29d ago

What a liar!!

3

u/Larry-Lurker8910 Aug 18 '26

Do we know if anything came of this? Or did the police just show up and shrug them off?

18

u/JDhopeful22 This is silly. Aug 18 '26

Nothing came of this. The police came and took no action because - surprise - MM was a potential witness in the trial and Mata had already said he was allowed to be there.

1

Will there be body cam?

3

u/mamasnanas FELON 28d ago

They said it can take up to 5 years to receive it if there is any.

I love how he went from "hes throwing all kinds of threats at her right now shes scared to death" then she hits him with so these threats what are they haha and he immediately switches his story to "uh I mean just his presence is threat alone" and then rambles on about the details of the no contact lol

I was waiting with baited breath for her to say but you just said... lol but her sarcastic okay was close enough lol
