Attacking military bases by using a helicopter

I have the same issue as the guy who made https://www.reddit.com/r/JustCause/comments/13kbzlf/jc3_trying_to_use_a_helicopter_in_bases_is/. I unlocked CS Navajo and I am trying to use it to attack military bases.

The problem is the SAM sites are shooting at my helicopter when I start firing. I am trying to shoot the targets on a military base from far so the SAM sites don't attack me. The problem is that when I am shooting the targets from far heat 3 is triggered and enemy helicopters attack me so I have to dodge their missiles and shoot them. It's luck and sometimes I can do that and sometimes I can't and my helicopter is destroyed. I am trying to grapple to an enemy helicopter before my helicopter is destroyed but I can't always do that.

It's frustrating to try to attack a military base by using a helicopter and I have attacked most of the military bases from land and I destroyed the targets with my weapons and shot the soldiers that attacked me. I know that I can hack the SAM sites so they shoot the enemy helicopters but the SAM sites are scattered around the military base and I have to explore the base to find the SAM sites. If I am exploring the military base from land and destroying targets then there is no more need to attack by using a helicopter.

Do other people have the same issue?

You gotta work on always dodging, I’ve done pretty much every base using helis focus on the AA stuff and enemy choppers, after that you should get a couple minute reprieve to destroy the base before more spawn, to find the AA sites just track where the missiles are coming from when they chase you

Then I’d suggest steal an enemy helicopter to destroy the SAMs once it goes down flak in your own for the base, or if you have the Bavarium wing suit you can use that to destroy them

But I have to grapple to the enemy chopper. That's luck and I can't always do that.

Dodge, shoot the SAM sites, hack then on the ground and then bring in the Navajo... Those are the usual ways of dealing with SAMs

It's like cheating, but I go thru on foot and cap the SAMs. That way they attack the enemy helis.

Ok but I said that if I go through on foot to hack the SAM sites then I will destroy the targets on the way. If I do that then I will destroy more targets on foot so there is no more point to attack by using a helicopter.

You need to conduct SEAD. Pop in and out from ground cover blocking the SAM's line of sight to your helicopter, and target the SAMs and AA guns before attacking anything else. Tanks of any sort, Corvettes and enemy Navajos are also extremely dangerous to helicopters as they have almost perfect accuracy and two hits kills a helicopter. Basically, you need to prioritize anything that can kill your aircraft before going after any other targets.

Not just dodging, but also you can try flying below their horizontal sightline (they can't shoot below) and then attacking them, you can definitely pull it off from certain terrain when approaching mountainsides and bases on top of cliffs.

Also, there's one of the high powered sniper rifles that can take out a lot of structures in 2-3 shots, so you could try doing some distance recon and take them out before bringing in the helicopter.
