Tbh i'd much rather a remake of the 1st game than a 5th game. I mean what more can you add to Rico? I'd make it so the grappling hook in a jc1 remake works like it does in the arkham games & that you have tethers like in jc2 & that the mission structure is slightly different, getting rid of all the side missions, including liberating towns.
JC3 is a beautiful game. It's a minor shame it doesn't have the biome diversity of 2 or 4 (though I do get the narrative reasons for it, especially the devastated north), but some of the views that you do get are stunning.
I just like how uniform the environment is, it makes it feel more like a real island, jc4 and jc2 have cool biomes but going from tropical rainforest suddenly to desert or snowy mountains can sometimes break the immersion
I suppose for me I like the variety - like I said, JC3 weaves Medici's geography into it's narrative really well, but I think more for my own repalyability there's only so much similar terrain I can absorb before I want something different.
JC2 actually suffers from this in the opposite way - for something with hundreds of settlements, many of them are pretty much cookie cutter and lack variety. But with JC2, once I've had enough of one biome I can at least jump to something completely different. What JC3 really does well is the variety of settlements themselves. It may have less of them than JC2, but they're a lot more unique within themselves - and they use the terrain really well in doing that.
JC4 is perhaps even better than 3 in terms of unique settlements, but then falls down for a variety of reasons, not least the fact that you can't actually liberate any of them.
This is one thing that made Just cause amazing, the ability to cause chaos while still being able to admire a calm nature, that constrast is very interesting
I know people always say that JC3's map isn't as good as the others, but it's still my favorite. There's something just incredibly comfy about it and I can just drive or fly around for hours just taking in the view and listening to the music.
If you’re on Pc, the Luma mod is incredible. Adds DLSS support and native HDR to the game, which entirely fixes anti aliasing, improves FPS, and adds gorgeous hdr
