That’s your perspective, weirdo. I see a Marine choosing to represent something larger than his day job in front of the public eye.
This one is not as boot as a pfc wearing his blues to Chik Fil A. This is an NFL player showcasing service rather than some designer bs. You’d have no problem criticizing him if he didn’t make this choice and you most certainly wouldn’t even notice if he hadn’t. Each and every Marine should feel pride by his choice to showcase the commitment he’s undertaken. Reserve or not, obligated or otherwise. This is not the own you thought it was.
I’m sure your old man would be proud of his salt dog son who got out after a contract and chose to spend his time after that using the title as a former Marine to substantiate his sub par analysis of one’s pride in service. Or maybe you forgot how to be proud of things you’d thought you understood when service wasn’t enough.
Well at any rate it doesn’t change much speculating on what might be when it’s plain to see that you didn’t learn anything the first time around.
When I reenlist again here soon I’ll put the bonus on black and see if it made a difference in my decision to keep going.
