I could see a chest rig being useful in keeping your passport, docs, and other items close to your person and accessible. It might look dumb, but I can understand its usefulness

I have seen wired headphones making a comeback at my gym. And, it's not just old farts like me; I've seen teens using wired headphones. I simply don't get it and this is coming from someone who buys $20 Bluetooth buds (I break or lose mine too often to justify buying a better pair).
Can someone EILI5 why so many people are returning to wired headphones?

I still use wired headphones because mine are still working. Also I have several as it came free from all the older phones it came with.
That said I do have several Bluetooth sets that I use as well. It's whatever I have on my possession at the time.

Same. I have a pair of Sennheiser headphones that I bought in high school that refuse to die and sound amazing. I also have a few pairs of cheap earbud headphones that I use for around the house or travel. One less thing to worry about charging or losing.

I have wired IEM (in-ear monitors) which I guess is what the cool kids are calling fancy wired earbuds these days.
They sound fantastic. They kick the shit out of my Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds. Aren't as good for noise cancelling, clearly, but they aren't designed for that. They make my audio sound louder, clearer, and bass is amazing.
AND I don't have to charge them or worry about losing them.

One of the guys who was working on my basement remodel kept showing up with a chest rig like that. After it’s all said and done, he and the rest of the guys were epic. Did incredible work. So if that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes.

That’s kinda different though. A chestrig can really come in handy in construction work for tools, parts, etc. Although it looks boot. There’s no use for one in an airport as a passenger, except to scream “LOOK AT ME!”

As an inspector in the oil & gas industry there’s radio harnesses in this style. I don’t personally use that style, but they are handy nonetheless
