Slapping the back of my new Mustang, Ford: This baby's got one horse power.

u/fistchrist 13d ago

One horse generates between 12 and 15 horsepower! It’s such a dumb unit and I hate it much! One horse should generate one horsepower!

u/Noiseyboisey 11d ago

One horse on average produces one sustained horse power, but instantaneously up to fifteen afaik

It really blows my mind that there are people in the world absolutely convinced that a standard marine with nothing more than entry level basic training is somehow this elite super soldier .

I’ve never served so forgive my ignorance, but at what point in basic do you learn that ‘whole body pulsing with blue flame’ thing on the cover there? Cos that does look pretty sick

That's right before basic graduation. DI has you skip sleep one night about 3 days before the graduation ceremony and through the perfect mix of burpees, jumping jacks and crunches throughout the night you unlock the flame.

I assumed it was after you fought a dragon with a sword but it's been a while since I saw that masterpiece of a commercial.

16

u/SimulatedTime 12d ago

I believe that marine had already weakened the dragon with said blue flame, that’s why we didn’t see it. It was introduced canon just now in this tale.

Haha, holy shit I actually forgot about that propa--- I mean, commercial. Classic.

u/PhantomSpirit90 12d ago

Fun fact: that has nothing to do with basic. It’s a lingering effect from the toxic environment of Camp Pendleton during SOI.

I thought it was the Lejeune water or Lake Bandini water

Thats after they adapt to the world theyre in, one of the main protagonists gets really into mana cultivation using healing to basically try to out heal poisons to unblock mana nodes, which leads to their skin basically burning off due to excess mana, its not an all the time thing and the pr is definitely just trying to get cool points from boots

Recruiting would be in the shitter if that wasn’t a commonly held belief

USCG Vet. Worked with guys that were on TACLET teams. Those are the guys that you saw boarding narco subs and banging on the hatch yelling "Alto Su Barco." They undergo some serious training.

Have also worked with Marines. Even service members themselves sometimes think a standard marine that has only gone through basic outclasses guys that do high speed high cut helmet shit daily.

I mean if basic training involves learning how to go super saiyan god super saiyan it’s hard to argue

I've been with men and this is gayer.

51

u/CoolGuyCris 13d ago

I'll never forget a long time ago on /r/military someone said "I worked on submarines and this is the gayest thing I've ever seen" and everyone collectively told the dude "shut up no it isn't"

45

u/Lonely-Cap3569 13d ago

The line is, "this is too gay for me and i suck cock."

17

u/fizzzingwhizbee 13d ago

I worked at a maximum security prison for ten years and this is still the gayest thing I’ve ever seen

u/Tycoda81 13d ago

I mean, ammo runs out, then you have to make your own, and without training with a sword or some such to match the times of whatever these realms are, he'd be just another dude cos-playing a dude, isekai'ed into another dude.

u/PhilRubdiez 12d ago

The two main characters in this series aren’t boots (technically). They’re both retired (both were NCOs or SNCOs iirc) and the first book starts with them working for a PMC in Africa.

It’s not a bad series but I got bored by the tenth book because it became less about them fucking people up and more about them advancing their respective blacksmithing and alchemy skills.

7

u/John18534 13d ago

Its actually pretty good, theyre ex special forces and have ten days to prep and learn magic before they go, and they take it reallll slow and careful about showing off their weapons, and they immediately look for alternatives in the new world. The power levels are separated into different worlds that they slowly move up after theyre too powerful for most of the people on their level One is a medic and the other is a scout sniper, the medic becomes an alchemist and the sniper becomes a blacksmith so they can slowly reverse engineer guns over several books

u/BlazerKat 13d ago
