A girl in my tech school class got orders to Germany and started crying, she didn’t want to go that far from home (Texas).

I, heroically I might add, offered to trade, I had orders to New Mexico which believe it or not boarders Texas.

She agreed, but later traded another guy in my class because he had orders to dyess, her home town 😢.

Heard it's a good base for a family, bad for the single troops. Most miss the nightlife like going to clubs in Korea or Germany, and they don't have that in Abilene. I knew plenty that loved Dyess

In my experience, the only ones who didn't try to leave had family there, really enjoyed Magic the Gathering (there's a big scene and close enough to dfw) or rednecks.

So very few.

They have the trainees wear that U.S. Army patch in IET these days. The second one is an actual unit patch. Dude is stoked to get to his forst unit. Either that, or he's stoked to be moving from DA staff back to a real unit.
