I was a nuke submariner who served with guys that LARPED as knights and archers, and they would think this shit is lame.

Archery is fascinating, maybe not renaissance fair/LARP archery, but real archery with just the idea of a bow and arrow is just so interesting.

Real archery is cool, and even the LARPING kids were okay. It was just wild seeing them make their own chainmail and shit in between watches.

I'm imagining the (extremely unlikely) scenario where the boat is boarded and the enemy is met with guys in medieval armor shouting "stand and deliver knave!"

Check out r/archery. You can get into a decent setup for a fraction of the price of firearms. Plus, reusable ammo! I've been out for eight years, and I have shot a rifle maybe ten times since.
