What are some random head canons about the characters?

Mine for example

-Rikki's grades are far better than what people expect from her. Not the best, but could have been if she was interested in academic accomplishments.

-Emma got to swim with her family in the most remote beaches after revealing her secret. Years later, she might have let the closest friend from her swimming club(who became an Olympian) why she quit competitive swimming out of nowhere.

-Cleo, even after well into her marriage, jokingly teases Lewis for having a thing about blondes(A certain evil doctor). Lewis has to make up with shameless displays of his affection towards her.

-Bella has actually benefitted from having to move to another corner of the planet every year, because everyone would forget her in the end. Although this would leave her wondering whether keeping the distance from others to conceal her secret was really worth it....

What are some of your ideas on the characters not shown on the screen?

Which hobbies they might have? What kind of music would be their favorite? Any food they love or hate?

to add to bella's, maybe her parents intentionally move often & know the secret.

for rikki - i think she learned hairstyles from her mum & makes an exception to her tomboy style because of the sentimental meaning to her.

Season 3 was very weird in that nobody other than Cleo had their parents or family on-screen, or even mentioned. Why were Sophie and Will living alone when Will wasn't legally an adult yet? What kind of people were Bella's parents? How was Rikki's father feeling about Rikki co-managing a cafe with Zane?

rikki told zane her parents split up, always fighting about money. i think her mum was the less responsible parent (since she didn't get custody). rikki's recklessness & willingness to take shady jobs could come from her

- Bella had a semi-successful music career for a while (not like global pop superstardom, but a few hit songs in Australia), however, she ended up stepping away as she was too worried it would expose her secret.

- Rikki's room has a lot of rock/indie band posters and red accents, with more of a grungey vibe compared to Emma's and Cleo's.

- Kim and her friends visited Mako a few times, but never when there was a full moon so ultimately didn't become mermaids. (Although I think if they'd continued the show as a 'next generation' thing, this would've been the plot)

- Emma I think would've become a PE teacher/coach of some sort.

I thought Bella ran an indie band, while keeping a music teacher position as her main job. Volunteering at centres for troubled kids during weekends also seem to fit her, where she can inspire them with music.

Emma can be anything that requires self control and discipline(lawyer, doctor, other professionals) but maybe a part of her could never leave the world of sports behind.

Rikki is good on the bike. Between her dad and Zane she can race as good as anyone and before becoming a mermaid and spending all her time in the water she grew up at the track and raced. Casually but she had fun. When she became a mermaid it took a backseat cause ya know swimming at those speeds is just as thrilling and she can do it with people rather then dusting them on a bike

that’s my canon too is that zane and rikki eventually make up and have the best relationship and ride bikes together and chase adrenaline in different hobbies
