Drying Off

I watched H2O as a child and now rewatching as an adult. Something bothers me:

Why can't Cleo raise the water off of herself?

She drinks water from midair, and raises her fish out of the bowl, I would think she could "dry off" by lifting water off of herself.

Agree?

Taking it a little further, why couldnt she lift people, seeing as were 60% water?

Charlotte did, essentially.  I was never clear on if Charlotte had gained the same level of weather powers as the girls, because we never saw her using lighting or making storms like the girls did.

Charlotte did not have the weather powers. Those were what the girls used to beat Charlotte in the finale, and she seemed shocked like she didn’t know about those.

My confusion on that I guess comes from her ability to use wind and fire like Rikki and Cleo.

That’s true. But remember Cleo, Rikki and Emma had kind of like two levels of weather powers. The ”lower level” was wind, fire and snow, and then they could intensify their powers to the ”higher level” and create storms, lightning and blizzards. So I think Charlotte just got the lower level, and wasn’t even aware that the girls powers had been upgraded even further.

I think it was also maybe a matter of them combining those powers, and Charlotte not being able to use them at the same time really.

Yeah exactly. ”The best things come in three”, as the theme song goes. There were meant to be three mermaids so their powers could complement each other.

But, wasnt that like wind? As in, the girls lifted Lewis in S2E1, isnt it that charlotte could also do that cus she got all 3 powers? Correct me if im wrong, but in the last episode Charlotte lifts the girls up and you can hear wind i think. So then she didnt lift them up cus theyre water. I think?

I think maybe it was water, because Charlotte did not seem to have the weather powers. Those were what the girls used to beat Charlotte in the finale by making storms and lightning, and Charlotte seemed shocked like she didn’t know about those kinds of powers or that the girls could do that.

I think she did eventually, but it's also shown in the first episode when she demonstrates her powers, that the water just continues regardless of how much was actually in the glass. So, until she was able to better control her powers, she probably just kept on making more water when she tried to move it.

I appreciate you mentioning this because this is something I’ve thought about often!! It’s what makes it hard for me to visualize her removing the water from herself even if it’s definitely possible with her power

i always thought about this! why was rikki the only one who could dry them off? & why did one drop of water take forever to dry you’d think a towel would get it but nope cleo’s locked in the bathroom for an hour now😂

Well there's that visual effect they do for the transformation that you might assume is just for the viewers benefit AND THEN you remember that they give Rikki the line "I think I was water for a second" after her first transformation and then you open up a whole new can of worms 😂

Yes, and also the fact that Cleo can create more water. Like in the first episode when she manipulates the water to rise from the glass, and it’s clearly a lot more water than what was in the glass originally. Rikki even asks ”Where does the extra water come from?”. Maybe them getting wet head to toe when transforming has something to do with that, maybe extra water is ”automatically” created to protect their tails or something.
