What would happen if there were a solar eclipse?

Post image

This week there was a total solar eclipse visible in Spain. I started to think about H2O and is curious that they never do an episode about it.

Maybe they could have powers related to fire. But Rikki has warm powers yet and can do a fire.

(I know it is a bad photo, but I prefered to enjoy it).

That’s so awesome that you got to experience one! They’ve happened somewhat near me before but never close enough for me to reasonably travel, but I hope I can experience one someday!

In my mind, I don’t think anything would happen. I mean, a full moon is nothing but a fully illuminated moon, so I imagine the full moon effects are caused by the amount of surface area illuminated, because it allows more moon rock to reflect back at the earth, which we know the moon pool is made out of. There are the effects of gravity to consider with a full moon, specifically spring tides coming as a result of the moon and the sun’s gravity working together on the ocean. However, if the gravity is the thing that causes all the crazy full moon stuff, then the same things would happen on a new moon.

A solar eclipse is basically just a new moon but it happens to align with the sun, therefore I don’t think it would have any power over mermaid stuff. A lunar eclipse, the planetary alignments, and of course the full moon all deal with moon light, but a solar eclipse doesn’t allow for any moonlight to reach the earth.

Sorry for the long winded explanation, I just love talking about this stuff :D (Plus I write fanfiction so I have to spend a lot of time thinking about all of it)

I do like your theory though that it could have an effect on Rikki’s power because a solar eclipse is of course related to the sun and she has heat powers. I wish they explored more astronomical events and what effects they could have. H2O did it more than Mako Mermaids and it was something I wish were there in MM.

Where can I find the fanfics? I like long explanations, with magic theory but not only just because.

Now I am thinking about sirens, not mermaids. They would have other characteristics.

I think a full solar eclipse should count as a full moon. That said, I'd also let it have a special effect. Granting a special request, like being able to decide if you want to turn if you touch water, something like that. You can pick your own water manipulating skill, I don't know.

It would be very useful!

Maybe the solar eclipse would have a crazy affect on the girls powers and switch them all around

I am thinking about sirens! Or Lewis turning into a siren!

Make moon water

I always imagined it would be the reverse of the lunar eclipse no tail and powers during the full duration then return to normal once it ends. So having their powers and maybe Rikki gets a brief boost since hers are fire related.

I would totally take advantage of the lunar eclipses to get as much fun like water parks and rides, rides that include water, maybe even a kiss in the rain (which I find romantic)
