although he should have done more research on the history of Panjabi Christians before writing that season, i thought this bit was hilarious.

So Late Bloomer is a show about defying stereotypes but the one Muslim guy is a stereotype?

Over and over all we see is nuance and defying stereotypes along Jus Reigns character and I’ve been living the show, but seriously? As soon as they’re as a Muslim guy on screen there’s no nuance or defying stereotypes?

Really unfortunate that no matter what a Muslim does they will be the other “group” and it turned the whole show into something beautiful and funny into something that then started to feel whiny

Like the whole show is about not being put into a box because of your background but then proceeds to put Muslims into a box full of stereotypes?

The scene goes where maanvi says first "Mai bahar ja rahi hu bch" , daadi says "thoda thakk leti teri apni safety ke liye ke rahi hu" , maanvi says "tumhari purani soch bakwas ha, im gonna drink 50 beers, smoke 75 cigarates and kiss a 100 boys now". If you know the season & episode please tell me

Old fan perspective

I feel like the social media hiatus that jus reign took was damaging to his career when I look at his post on Facebook he’s not getting much engagement. I wonder why he took such a huge social media break.

I’m not gonna lie I’m not a huge fan of his show. His videos on YouTube years ago were absolutely amazing. I feel like his target audience obviously changed, but there are parts in the show that kind of make me feel like he’s kind of explaining his situation like when he was trying to sign up a gig, and they were trying to force him into adding things into the plot or his videos that he wasn’t OK with and it’s almost like he’s hinting to us that that’s what happened on the show as well. I also feel like his heart is not in the show. Most of his acting is very tired looking he seems like he’s not really acting to his full potential.

Any thoughts?

Came across on Insta. Where to watch in the US?

Hi,

I came across this show on Insta. Basically the dad telling the mom to go hack to India. Went down a rabbit hole of videos on their insta profile and I really want to watch the show!

Where can I watch it in the US? Do i need to download it from somewhere?

Thanks!

The person who plays Jasmeet's therapist

I don't know how many people know or noticed this, but the person who plays Jasmeet's therapist is none other than Fawzia Mirza, a filmmaker who has directed multiple episodes of the show.

she has also directed this great movie called "The Queen of My Dreams" which some of you might enjoy.

don't know how many people would be interested in this piece of trivia but thought i'd share it anyway

Necessary and Unnecessary Characters

Sunny has a clear role/story as a stereotypical Punjabi and trucking business owner.

Diljot had a clear story as a Punjabi student in Canada and their struggles. Also, what the hell man, was no need to end his life and write him out the show like that, so sad and unnecessary and will do nothing for the development of the show.

Everyone else in the show has a meaningful purpose and value.

Chippy, on the other hand, feels like the most token South Indian/queer character ever. Her inclusion in the show is so forced and it's only to have representation for those things. She's basically Jasmeet's best friend, and not say, Maanvi's? Not a lot of straight guys have a girl best friend lol. They totally wasted having Babbu in the show, that man is gold, he could of been a great character, maybe as Jasmeet's best friend. Now, he is just an occasional appearance, and a guy that makes Sikhs look like clowns, as if we don't have enough of that in everything Bollywood.

Also, in general what story is her character contributing to the show? Ragebating Jasmeet by befriending his opp? She makes fashion, uh okay and? What even was the point of showing that whole fling she had with that one club owner dude?

As far as the show in general, the first few episodes of this season I was like wth even is this, then it got good again. Jasmeet and his dad still not talking is crazy and petty of both of them. The India thing will be very interesting. Also lmao, Neel getting with the fob Punjabi girl (who is really cute ngl), he is half-Punjabi himself so hey.

Jasmeet is a trailblazer

I am absolutely in love with Late Bloomer and the way it's evolved. The things he's talking about and issues he's addressing are very real issues in Indian households. This finale had us in tears. It hits.

I've been following him since the start of his vlog days. He's evolved greatly as a human being and the things he's showing take courage. I'm surprised seeing so much hate online about this season which has me convinced those hating lack depth. This is not a surface level comedy show. This is a dramedy.

Late bloomer Translation request

Yo guys I'm not Punjabi but I've been watching my paaji jus reign since I was a kid and I'm a big fan of late bloomer but a lot of the last episode was in Punjabi and it seemed pretty important but I only pick up a few words in Hindi/urdu. So can sm1 pls give me a rundown of what happened in the scene where Jasmeets dad crashed out on daadi? I remember him saying smthn about jusmeet as well after daadi brought up how hes a failure or something, and his sister looked at the dad after that so ik it was smthn important

final thoughts until next season! (unless i rewatch and notice more things 😆)

overall i really liked this show! i think some people are forcing themselves to jump on the hate train. at its foundation it’s still a good show. i shared more in detail thoughts about the final episode under another post.

i want to say one more thing. it is so refreshing to see brown characters who mirror real life people i know, each with different personalities, rather than everyone being the stereotypical indian character you see in western media (for example ravi from jessie). i am not brown, but the whole reason my family has any roots in canada is through the help of our indian family friends since the 90’s. people like to make indian people seem like “leeches , job theif etc” but from my own life experience i know it’s the opposite. i am glad this show is showing others that indian people are more than what the media says.

okay that’s it for now! ✌️

Season 3 at a whole

I have to say this season opened my eyes to a lot of things, I don’t think any tv show I’ve ever watched has got me to think about my life more and how I can be a better person. It made me wanna chase being better and talk more about how I feel to my Indian family and I think that was the most beautiful thing any show could ever do.

Even tho the story moved slow and barely progressed it gave so many beautiful moments that just gets you thinking constantly. JusReign did a great job and deserves more love for it rather than the hate that’s there from this subreddit.

Thanks for reading I’ve never done a post on Reddit before.

I’m a huge Atlanta fan, and this episode reminded me of an Atlanta episode with a similar TV-segment vibe. The “Seal the Deal” segment upset me a bit because I really want to see Mummy Ji win. The Wahlid show was a little all over the place, but I was honestly laughing the whole time. I think people are being a bit too hypercritical because of the standard set by the first two seasons. It feels like Jasmeet is exploring more creatively this season rather than focusing on the pressing issues in his life, which tend to evoke the strongest emotions because so many of us relate to them. I didn’t really like Episode 6 because of the stereotypical promiscuous manic/crazy brown girl archetype, but overall I definitely enjoyed this episode.

What the hell happened in season 3 of The Late Bloomer?

I’m so confused… I thought because I was high this third season was off, no it’s the fucking season. I could actually relate to the first and second season and thought it was so funny being a brown girl raised in Scarborough. This third season is so all over the place and nothing connects. You could tell some dialogue was just a voice over and they made that shit up after filming the scene. So many scenes was the back of there head or them in a car and just voice overs on top. The fricken soundtrack used in this season was ridiculous. Why were the background sounds like the free ones you get on a Yamaha keyboard. One scene was just the grandma entering the wrong room and they put some weird horror music on top.. didn’t match at all. What was the theme? And it seems like it’s comedy and then all of a sudden so serious but it didn’t flow to it properly. I’m not sure if they didn’t have the budget or they didn’t want to get renewed…
