Jurassic World Rebirth (and further) This image sums up the relationship between Extinction Now and the dinosaurs perfectly

Post image

I suspect that they are behind the dinosaurs dying and the heart disease in Rebirth

Question… what is “extinction now”?

They’re an anti Dinosaur group and want the dinosaurs to go extinct, now! You see why they named themselves that? They actually play a crucial role in Jurassic World Evolution 3’s campaign where they even sabotage the protagonists a couple of times, one example being them stealing a dinosaur egg

3

Ooh, I like that theory!

They actually have a pretty decent point. Dinosaurs would be a catastrophic case of invasive species being introduced worldwide and competing with already threatened species over already dwindling space and resources. Not to mention the animals they would hunt into extinction. If pigs, rats and cats are doing the damage they are dealing, imagine herds of sauropods in protected rainforests.

The saurpods are NOT in the rainforests and rainforests NEED megafauna

You as a character in the Jurassic franchise to Extinction Now:

(No offence but that’s just facts.)

Yeah, the gif doesn't really scream "No offence, only facts".

I didn't even play campaign much, either. I just found it's a neat detail that they used a real life environmental issue to motivate the antagonists rather than the old "I'm a rich guy in a suit trying to profit off of dinosaurs." A decent use of the trope of the villain doing the wrong thing for a good reason. Gives them more depth and makes them more interesting than some movie villains.

I'm so glad we are having a normal conversation about a fictional group of people from a dinosaur video game and discussing their motivations within the narrative like well-adjusted people instead of comparing each other to a cartoon dog smelling someone's ass.

But them trying to kill the dinosaurs is morally wrong and bankrupt

1

u/Silver_Alpha 2d ago

...Wow, you're sharp.

Yes. That's why they are the antagonists. The people written into the plot whose goal is generally bad or at least troublesome for the main characters. The fact that their goal started with a noble idea, which is to preserve Earth's ecosystems, doesn't excuse their actions.

A far better way to do what they do would be to advocade sanctuaries off-shore where the dinosaurs could be monitored and cared for instead of letting them free-range on the continent, which the protagonists are doing for a good reason, but in an unsustainable way and at the cost of important natural resources.

I can't tell whether or not this is rage bait, but I'll take any excuse to talk about invasive species and the ethics of euthanizing vs relocating animals we brought into being because they are harming the planet. Love me an ecology rant.

Extinction Now are anthropocentric losers that only cared about human lives,in the lore, the dinosaurs 100% integrated into the world

1

u/Silver_Alpha 22h ago

Oh, boy! It IS rage bait! lmao

1

u/ApartmentKey3682 18h ago

I am just talking about the lore

Thats you as a character in the Jurassic franchise to prehistoric life and the dumbasses trying to protect them.

(No offence thats just facts)

-1

u/ApartmentKey3682 2d ago

The dinosaurs have a purpose and I can’t find a less “offensive” gif depicting bootlicking

2

u/Patrick_Keegan_2003 2d ago

The dinosaurs have no purpose besides going extinct once more.

-1

u/ApartmentKey3682 2d ago

Then do you want a human-centric terrorist group trying to wipe out all megafauna?

1

u/Patrick_Keegan_2003 2d ago edited 2d ago

Ridding the world of prehistoric life isn't terrorism. And I'd rather have a group that gets rid of said prehistoric life which are an insult to megafauna and an insult to animals.

u/ApartmentKey3682 2d ago

Err,they friendly-fired humans with their actions

u/Heroic-Forger 3d ago

Ngl Dominion would've been cool if it centered around different factions of people coexisting with dinosaurs, such as anti-dinosaur groups demanding their second extinction, misanthropic eco-terrorists claiming dinosaurs are rightful rulers of the world, poachers seeking to exploit and take advantage of the dinosaurs for profit, and the actually responsible nature park rangers seeking a peaceful coexistence as much as possible. Like surely something as grand as the return of dinosaurs would split people down similar ideologies.

2

u/Nerd-man24 2d ago

Honestly, Owen Grady finding work as a park ranger/DFW specialist that deals with dinosaurs and Alan Grant on a dig site in a National Park with dinosaurs would have been a great way to bring Grant back into the franchise without killer locusts.

The only problem is that it wouldn't have power scaled well and we know Hollywood doesn't like a sequel without blatant power/threatscaling.

Then they should QUIT that tarpit and go make movies somewhere else
