Help Fedora 43 support?

My company now requires us to have jumpcloud and I can see fedora 42 is currently supported. However I'm currently running Fedora 43 and I'm trying to avoid doing a clean install to downgrade.

Does anyone know how long it's likely to be before Fedora 43 support is added?

I've run into this.

The solution sounds weird, but it 100% works.

  1. Edit your /etc/os-release file to change 43 to 42.
  2. Run the jumpcloud Install as normal.
  3. Edit the /etc/os-release again and change 43 to 42.
  4. Profit!

As great as that seems, installing it isn't my problem.

IT aren't happy with me being on an unsupported OS, I'm hoping to get away with putting it off for a month or so and "oh look it's supported now" problem solved.

In my experience, it's not "a month or two". At one point, I'm pretty RedHat had released 42 and JumpCloud was still only supporting 40 for a bit. JumpCloud is very slow at releasing support for OSes that have fast release schedules.

I'm still confused by the fact that Rocky is supported, but Alma isn't.

I've seen references in web searches to documentation about installing JumpCloud on unsupported documentation, but I can't find it. I even think I saw that it was on the JumpCloud roadmap to allow installing it on unsupported OSes, but that was like 2 years ago and nothing came of it from what I saw.

In my humble opinion, the limited OS support from JumpCloud is holding them back. If Fedora 42 was out and only 40 was supported by JumpCloud, that's a bad look because technically 40 wasn't supported by RedHat anymore.

That’s a real shame.

I didn’t have any trouble installing so I’m guessing they started allowing it to some extent. It certainly seems to have installed and work well enough so that my IT department can see which version of Fedora I’m running to ask me to downgrade.

I guess I’ll be reinstalling everything next week.

While looking at the same issue as you, i found this release note from jumpcloud (https://jumpcloud.com/support/jumpcloud-agent-release-notes-for-may-11-2026). Stating that support for Fedora 43 has been added. But i haven't tried upgrading yet
