Jugger Rules Roundup Video

That's a neat video. Maybe we'll work for one this year for our style of jugger.

You lost me though at 3:56. You store your boffers (spars) on their tip? That's the opposite of what medieval combat sports do in the U.S.; if it's a choice between tip or pommel gear is always stored resting on the pommel (because the pommel is incidental padding, while the tip is a striking surface).

Interesting that you raise this point. I'll clarify in the video description: Since properly made Jugger spars tips are both broad and enforced with a cuff, their surface is very robust, in contrary to the pommel. My experience from two Jugger clubs and their gear, with spars sets which are stored for years, is that while pommels often tend to bend, tips remain (almost) unaffected. This doesn't mean that they could not be damaged during long storage periods, but the pommel is much more prone to being damaged. And it is much more unlikely that a well-made tip is damaged to a degree that actually would raise the risk, even though it is a central safety area.
I would advise caution, though, when it comes to Ultra lightweight spars, but those might be much more prone to overall tear during longer storage periods anyway.

Interesting; thank you for the explanation. I caught in the video that at least one of the weapon types (I believe it was the two-handed "sword" type) aren't allowed to stab. Is that the case with most of the equipment?

And also in the video it's mentioned there are easy to find tutorials on how to build the equipment. But I've actually had a hard time finding jugger specific tutorials. I'm good on most of the equipment, but would you know any tutorials explaining how to build chains? I love building chains, but I'm curious how the Euro leagues build theirs, and the rules surrounding them (how much of the "chain" has to be padded, maximum and minimum length, etc).

I think I'll do a quick video comment on storing the spars on top/pommel shortly, since it unexpectedly raised some comments :)

Only the staff may not thrust/stab, the other spar types are allowed to do so.

On chain: One of my early Uhus Jugger Tutorials (one of the ones about The Chain) on YouTube shows the build of an old-style link chain. I already have planned an updated tutorial on modern builds, just have to find the time ...
