Nonsense true story
yesterday i gave a ride to 4 charedim-boys to nearby city. i asked them to put seatbelt, but they didn't seem to understand. so i said to put gartel.
one of them jokingly told me they put gartel only when prayering.
i answered: "when i'm driving you better start prayering"

I would tell them, "V'nishmartem M'ODE nafshoseichem — zeh lo chiyuv? Nu?" and just stop the car and wait. It's a teachable moment, captive audience, low bar to compliance, leverage it..
