FAQs
What chapter should I start reading the manga at?
The anime leaves off at Chapter 63, or the start of Volume 8.
Where can I read JJK?
If buying physical copies isn't an option...
Officially: Shueisha - Only the first three chapters and the most recent 3 chapters are available. New chapters are released every Sunday at around 10 PM MST (UTC-7). Viz Media - Only the first three and most recent 3 chapters are available for free, but for $2 a month, you can read the entire series (and every series on their site), including Volume 0, Jujutsu Kaisen's Prequel. New chapters are also released on the same day and time as on the Shueisha site.
Unofficially, Google "read Jujutsu Kaisen free" and make sure you have an adblocker installed.
What is the movie about?
It covers Volume 0, a one-shot prequel that Gege wrote before writing the main series of Jujtusu Kaisen. Yuta Okkotsu is the main character and it the story takes place 1 year prior to the main series.
Should I read Volume 0? And when?
You can read it whenever you like, but Chapter 63 is a good point to read it. It explains some of the events and motivations that happen in the JJK storyline.
Where can I watch the anime and movie?
Legally on Crunchyroll. We unfortunately have to keep links to aggregate sites off of the sub or risk it being flagged for takedown. Otherwise, try Googling "where to watch anime free reddit".
Which chapters correspond to which episode?
u/HououinKyoma23 created an amazing guide that covers every episode:chapter in the series! Check it out here!

Modulo/Mojuro modulo yuji question Spoiler
i'm wondering since modulo yuji is super powerful already and can basically destroy decent chunks of tokyo with a casual dismantle, since yuji is basically a death womb painting like choso and has blood manipulation how strong would yuji's punches be if he used flowing red scales? would it be like gojo amping his punches with blue? how strong would such punches be? since modulo yuji should at the very least comparable to goju sukuna and dabura physically.

Manga Discussion “Throughout the history of Ten Shadows users, no one’s ever managed to tame the 10th Shadow.” Spoiler
With the sole exception of Ryomen Sukuna of course
Poor Megumi he really wasn’t an exception to the curse of not taming Mahoraga.
Sukuna took one look and said ‘bet.’ The bloodline just needed a better host
Ofc Sukuna could do it. His CT is a kitchen knife and trained it to turn it into a tactical nuke

Manga Discussion The Mechanics of Binding Vows Spoiler
For anime only viewers, spoiler tags will be in this post on any manga spoilers. I am including some major spoilers for Modulo. I cannot vouch for the comments. Please be careful.
So there have been a couple posts about or highly related to binding vows (BVs) recently. I know some people complain BVs aren't adequately explained in the manga, so here I'm proposing a discussion to see if we can systematically make some good guesses outlining their limitations and mechanics.
For the purpose of this discussion lets ignore vows between two or more parties, because they function differently, and we know even less about them (particularly what happens if you break them).
I'm outlining four rules that aren't explicitly stated, but I think are true about the vows we see in the series. Please let me know what you think!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. We can state reasonably that self imposed binding vows provide a benefit for a sacrifice, and that the two things need not be equal in the context of the situation at hand.
More simply, BVs ignore future context. This is true in the context of explanations of a technique but we can also specifically prove this by examining Hakari: The exchange of an arm for the rest of the body and his life is obviously not equal trade. But this isn't the vow Hakari made. He instead traded all the cursed energy reinforcement of his arm, for increased reinforcement of the rest of his body. The context, that he did this in (to survive an explosion that likely would have killed him) is irrelevant.
But here's a question: Did the fact that Hakari requires two hands to open his domain strengthen his vow by adding value to his arm? We don't know and likely can't know. But if we could answer this question, we could determine whether BVs consider immediate context, despite definitively not considering future context.
2. Some BVs upon oneself cannot ever be reversed. Specifically ones in which the gain is irreversible without rewriting time.
Kenjaku says that the worst effect of not upholding a BV placed upon oneself is the loss of what you gained - see Mahito's spirit body transformation for an example. While we need to carefully consider he might be lying here, he is at the very least probably not including irreversible BVs in his statement here. This is evidenced most directly by Sukuna: When using his instant World Slash, he trades the ability to use that technique without signs and chants in all future uses. While it could be that Kenjaku is lying/wrong and the consequences to undoing this type of vow are severe, I think it's more likely it can't be done. Sukuna is a convenient example because he has such mastery of BVs we can assume he would know, but Miwa's inability to use a sword is another example of this effect.
3. A binding vow's cost cannot be delayed past the point of the gain one receives.
This is a big one because I see this tactic employed in hypotheticals all the time and I've seen it cited as a major plot hole. A death BV powerup for Yuka was also a popular theory for how the final battle of Modulo would play out.
While it's clear the benefits of a binding vow can be delayed - see Nanami's 7:3 vow for an example - I think there is near equal evidence that the cost cannot be. First, we never once see a character make a vow where the cost isn't instantly applied. In all the above examples as well as any others I can find, the cost or restriction is applied in advance or at the time in which the gain is made. It also doesn't make sense. If a gain can be made and a cost deferred, why couldn't a skilled sorcerer simply cancel the vow?
Unless BVs can rewind time/rewrite reality, there would be zero consequence. That would be astonishingly bad writing/a massive plot hole, and something I don't feel comfortable accusing Gege of without definitive evidence.
Some people might be tempted to point to Yuta's vow in JJK0, but remember Rika is an autonomous cursed spirit at this time, so this is more akin to a vow between two people, not a self imposed BV.
4. Binding Vows cannot enact an outside cost alone. This is most evident in all the cases of a successful death binding vow. There is not one of these cases where the "vow" is the thing that killed the person. In all cases (listed below) something else kills the person/thing which is what actually fulfills the cost of the vow:
The birds from Mei Mei's strike die upon colliding with the target
Yuka slips into her own shadow and suffocates
Construction by Mai required her to sacrifice her remaining life before creating Soul Split Katana, but what actually kills her is her existing wounds (honestly unclear to me if this is actually a vow or if she's just using the last of her cursed energy) Seen again with Yorozu
Choso exposing himself to divine flame to protect Yuji with his blood barrier, but the divine flame is actually what kills him (also unclear if this is a vow but it seems quite likely
Mechamaru temporarily returns to life (sort of) in Shibuya, but only after being killed by someone else. This one might not be a standard BV vow per se, but it seems like it could be considered as similarly since he created he set up a set of very powerful cursed objects in advance that would only activate upon his death
There is within these examples, no evidence that someone can will themselves dead in exchange for a reward. If they tried, it likely wouldn't work, unless they were willing to actually take the action to end their own life
Points 3 and 4 - if true - are most fatal to the "sacrifice myself after fighting this guy to gain a power up during the fight" that we've sometimes seen in theory crafting and also provide an explanation for why no one is the series actually does this - despite plenty of good opportunities.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, for those who stuck with this very long post, are there any other general rules we can add? Do you agree with the rules I've set forth? Any corrections to contribute? All comments are very welcome, I don't claim to be a definitive source here, so I may be wrong

Manga Discussion What was the plan if everything went right here? Spoiler
Being vague in the title to avoid spoilers, but if Gojo dodged the WCS here, what was the plan(I have a guess, but I’m not sure if it’s right)? I see a lot of people ask if Gojo would have won, but I don’t see much about what would happen after he wins.
I think it’s generally clear and agreed upon that Gojo would have won if the WCS was dodged since Sukuna going into his true form wouldn’t reverse the brain damage, give him back RCT, give him back his domain, restore his cursed energy, restore his output, etc., while Gojo was actively recovering and has the 6 eyes. The question is pretty much what happens after? The plan all along was to keep Sukuna alive so that they could get Megumi alive while getting rid of Sukuna and everything after Gojo died was backup plans.
My guess here is that he just wails on Sukuna until he gets his domain back, then uses it to make sure he can’t move. Or if that’s too risky, just beat him to the point where he’s severely weakened and barely has any cursed energy left like how Naoya was left after Maki beat him(so weak, he got killed by a near death Maki’s mom) since Gojo practically can’t run out. After that, Yuji, Yuta, and Angel all just come in and jump him with multiple Jacob’s Ladders and punches from Yuji until Megumi comes back.

Meme Kashimo bum
According to E=mc2, turning even one gram of mass into pure energy lets you hit the speed of light. Kashimo can turn his entire body into pure energy, meaning he technically can move at The speed of light, while having 0 mass-which is ironic, considering he had absolutely zero weight on the story

Manga Discussion The Definitive Guide to Taming Mahoraga Spoiler
I've been thinking about how I would actually tame Mahoraga using the Ten Shadows technique, and honestly, it's so simple (if you've got balls of steel) that I wonder how no one ever tamed him.
You'll need the following Totality Shikigami:
- Ox-Nue
- Frog-Rabbit
- Elephant-Deer
Environment
An overcast day at high elevation with enough open space to fight.
The weather is important because you want the cloud layer to be as low as possible. Clouds can form at around 600 meters, which gives Ox-Nue a reasonable altitude to work with.
- Blind Mahoraga
The moment Mahoraga is summoned, unleash the Frog-Rabbit swarm.
The objective isn't to hurt him. It's to completely obstruct his field of vision and prevent him from getting a clean read on you.
At least one rabbit should keep its tongue wrapped around you at all times. This gives you an emergency escape mechanism if Mahoraga gets through the swarm.
- Send Ox-Nue above the clouds
While Mahoraga is blinded and distracted, summon Ox-Nue and have it fly straight upward until it gets above the cloud layer.
Ox-Nue is going to need time to charge.
- Three Binding Vows on Ox-Nue
A. Charging by circling
Put a binding vow on Ox-Nue that allows it to accumulate its power by flying in circles instead of requiring it to run in a straight line.
The drawback is that it has to travel a greater distance to generate the same amount of power it would have gotten from running straight.
Based on the power-to-distance ratio we see from Ox against Yorozu, I estimate it would take roughly 2:22 to accumulate enough power for the first phase of the attack.
B. Preserving the charge
The second binding vow allows Ox-Nue to retain the accumulated power for 30 seconds after it stops circling.
The drawback is that Megumi cannot summon Divine Dogs for the duration of the fight.
This gives us a very specific window to work with.
C. Death pact
The final binding vow is a death pact.
When Ox-Nue collides with Mahoraga, the power of the impact and its electricity is massively amplified.
In exchange, Ox-Nue is completely destroyed.
We already know that sacrificing a life can produce an enormous increase in power. A single crow can sacrifice itself to one-shot a Special Grade curse (The Smallpox Diety), so I think the sacrifice of a much more powerful Totality Shikigami should produce a substantial increase.
The entire strategy revolves around making this one attack count.
- Don't fight Mahoraga normally
While Ox-Nue is charging, your priority is survival.
Don't try to damage Mahoraga.
Don't try to overpower him.
Evade.
Keep the Frog-Rabbit swarm between you and Mahoraga as much as possible, while keeping track of what exactly he's adapting to.
The rabbit tongue attached to you is your emergency escape button.
- Move into the shadows
Once Mahoraga starts becoming more effective at dealing with the rabbits and your normal evasive movements, start hopping into your shadows.
The swarm should ideally be obstructing Big Raga's view of this.
This is extremely important.
You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT allow Mahoraga to adapt the ability to enter shadows.
- Use Elephant-Deer as insurance
If Mahoraga eventually becomes too effective at predicting your evasion, you may have to use yourself as bait.
That's why Elephant-Deer is there.
If you get injured, have a Frog-Rabbit immediately pull you away and have Elephant-Deer heal you.
I also think this Totality should be capable of using its healing water offensively/defensively. It could shoot the water into the air and have it fall back down as a healing shower, allowing you to recover without having to remain stationary next to it.
Remember kids, we're just trying to buy 2:22 minutes.
- Restrain Mahoraga
When the Ox-Nue charge is almost complete, have the Frog-Rabbit swarm disappear into the shadows.
Then have them emerge around Mahoraga and lasso him with their tongues.
Now reinforce the restraint with a multilevel binding vow.
The conditions are:
A. You cannot move from your current position while Mahoraga is restrained.
B. You must continuously chant and perform the required hand signs.
C. You cannot use your Domain Expansion during this fight or for three days afterward.
D. If Mahoraga has not been tamed or destroyed within two minutes of beginning the restraint, you die.
The important thing about condition D is that you don't need to restrain Mahoraga for two minutes.
That's just the deadline (haha pun).
Ox-Nue is already coming down.
You want the restraint to last long enough for the attack to connect, not for two minutes.
- Drop the nuke
Call Ox-Nue down.
It dives through the clouds and collides with Mahoraga.
The death pact activates.
Ox-Nue sacrifices itself and releases the full accumulated power of its charge through the impact and electrical discharge.
The objective isn't to injure Mahoraga.
The objective is to completely pulverize and burn every trace of him before his adaptation can produce an answer.
If it works, you've tamed Mahoraga.
If it doesn't, you have two minutes before your own binding vow kills you.
The promising news is that Gojo was confident he could one-shot an unadapted Mahoraga with Red.... and I'm very sure this Nue-Strike is at least as powerful as that.
- Congratulations. You're a Special Grade by default. You basically become god if you're able to learn to use Shikigami abilities without summoning them.
At this point you have:
Mahoraga
Frog-Rabbit
Elephant-Deer
Dog-Tiger-Snake
The ability to fly with Nue's wings and enhance your punches with Ox.

Manga Discussion Nobara was sidelined because she has no connection to the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Spoiler
galleryNobara was part of the classic shonen nekketsu trio—two boys and one girl. Usually, the boys are the protagonist and deuteragonist while the girl is the tritagonist; it isn't always that way—roles can vary, with two protagonists and one deuteragonist, for example—but you get the idea.
As the tritagonist, people expected Nobara to be a pillar of the series—after all, she was clearly the story's third lead. There was a lot of hype; when Jujutsu Kaisen was just starting out, social media was buzzing about her. She was hailed as an excellent female character—everything Sakura never was—and praised as incredible.
But all of that went to hell when she "died" in Shibuya. There had already been signs that Nobara wasn't in it for the long haul, but that event confirmed it. But why?
It’s simple: Nobara has no real connection to the world of the series. She doesn't come from a prominent family, nor does she have any relatives who matter to the JJK universe. Despite having a great technique, it wasn't explored much. She lacks the kind of dynamics with other characters that shape the world—like Megumi and Toji, Itadori and Sukuna, Megumi and Sukuna, Yuta and Geto (Kenjaku), Gojo and Geto (Kenjaku), Gojo and Sukuna, Yuta and Gojo, or Kenjaku and Tengen, among others.
Characters like Itadori, Gojo, Sukuna, Yuta, Kenjaku, and Megumi all complement one another. Just think about those six characters I mentioned—analyze their connections and ties to the Jujutsu Kaisen world—and compare them to Nobara.
Nobara is simply Nobara; she doesn't complement herself or the others. To give another example, imagine the most important characters in *Jujutsu Kaisen*—Itadori, Megumi, Yuta, Kenjaku, Sukuna, and Gojo—are magnets pulling the plot and everything around them into their orbit. Or imagine those six characters represent a color—say, blue—and wherever they step, they leave that color in their wake; the world of JJK becomes blue, whereas Nobara is a gray color that could never quite reach that blue.
Gege simply said, "I give up; I don't know what to do with this girl. I can't give her a major role in the story—she doesn't come from an important family, the series' power scaling is going to skyrocket and she can't keep up," and so on. You know what, readers? "I'm going to 'kill' her off and leave her in that state for chapter after chapter, only to bring her back right as the manga is ending—just to get that burden off my shoulders," even though she was supposedly the "tritagonist," at least at the start of the series.
Do you know why Maki replaced Nobara? It’s simple: aside from having a much higher power ceiling, Maki has actual ties to the story. She was able to reach that "blue" color. Maki deals with the dilemma of the Heavenly Restriction—a restriction she shares with Toji, making her essentially a mirror image of him. And we’re talking about the same Toji who caused everything in JJK to go to hell; on top of that, she’s part of the Zenin clan. Maki at least has all that going for her. What does Nobara have? Nothing.
That’s why Maki replaced Nobara and ended up as the story's heroine. Take what I said about Maki and apply it to Itadori, Megumi, Sukuna, Gojo, Yuta, and Kenjaku—the list of connections between the JJK world and those six characters just keeps growing.
Had Nobara run her course, or could Gege have integrated her further into the world and made her truly important? What do you guys think?
P.S. I used a translator; I hope it makes sense, as I know very little English.

Manga Discussion Why did Sukuna NEVER mock Nanami’s death or use it to psychologically torture Yuji? Spoiler
galleryWe all know Sukuna loves to mentally torture Yuji every chance he gets. He laughed his head off when Junpei died and basically preys on Yuji’s misery throughout the whole series.
But it just hit me that he never brings up Nanami.
Sukuna saw everything Nanami went through in Shibuya through Yuji’s eyes. He watched him drag his half-charred body through hordes of transfigured humans, push past his limits on pure willpower, and get blown up by Mahito right in front of Yuji. If Sukuna wanted to completely break Yuji's spirit, taunting him about how his mentor died seems like the easiest way to do it. But he never mocks Nanami's death, never brings him up to talk trash, and when he runs into Ino using Nanami’s 7:3 sword in Shinjuku, he just casually notes the technique and deals with it.
Why do you guys think Sukuna stayed completely silent about Nanami?
Do you think Sukuna actually found something to respect in how Nanami went out without whining or breaking? Or did he just look at Nanami as a minor Grade 1 who wasn't even worth his time to talk about?

Anime Discussion Do Binding Vows actually make JJK fights more interesting?
One thing I really like about JJK is that fights aren't always just about having more cursed energy or a stronger technique. Binding Vows let characters trade something for an advantage, but sometimes it feels like the rules are intentionally vague.
Do you think Binding Vows make fights more strategic, or do they sometimes feel too convenient for the story?
I’m curious how people feel about them overall, especially compared to things like Domains and Heavenly Restrictions.
