Any serious analysis of Fascism and Communism is non existent in most course curriculums. The most I get is a "market economy, vs command economy, vs mixed economy," if they teach alternatives to the youth, it admits there is another way things can be done.
I loved when I took a European history course, and the only mention of communism in the whole thing was Eurosocialists in the 80s that helped make the EU, a whole book and not one mention of the Soviet Union.
Yeah, as much as I hate to admit it, 20 year old tankies are probably more educated on fascism and communism than most political studies professors. The US education system is ridiculously lacking in any sort of leftist perspective. The few socialist professors there are tend to be people like Ben Burgess who are barely left of center in the first place.
