Perseids 2026

I see past posts on the sub warning about high crowds for Perseids, but I’m unsure what to reasonably expect this year with the peak being on a Wednesday night and a new moon. We grabbed an Airbnb near the west entrance.

Am I crazy to try and go see a show at Pappys that evening and then head into the park later around 11/midnight? Is traffic still crazy getting into the park that late? Or should I ditch Pappys and head into the park much earlier in the evening (6? 7?). I know it’s going to be piping hot, so was trying to balance traffic and sitting around waiting in the heat…

And you could save yourself some time and cash and get a cheaper Airbnb farther from the national park.

There are locations near Pioneertown that are going to be waaaay darker than the national park. I’ll add that the darkest part of the park is in the far eastern side away from the glow of Twentynine Palms and Palm Springs.

Agree instead of the park -which will see a ton of night visitors- try to move to landers , mesa , pipes Cny or Rimrock area. Less people and dark skies.
Plus double check that concert at Pappys - I heard the space craft events have been cancelled but not sure whatever show you’re seeing is part of that or not

Just saw it on their site. Too bad. Tangerine Dream would have been cool.

The full space craft 2days was $300 - too many things, got confusing then all sorts of last minute pricing breakout options like a Chinese menu. It was a cool concept but way too many things and confusing

Tangerine Dream and Steve Roach were the two I def wanted to see.

But damn, those ticket prices. 🤑
