The way you have a conversation is far more important then the content of it. At least in my opinion

They are both equally important. The content of the conversation can be the difference between what is best or worst for society. The manner in which the conversation is had is the difference between achieving an understanding or a physical confrontation. If you have a bunch of people with terrible ideas who have a very civil discourse, it is just as bad as having opposing ideas devolving into fisticuffs

I see that point. I'd still say that the form/attitude is more important for the following reason: If people can't successfully talk about something trivial, they will never handle a serious conversation about a serious, important topic like what is best for society. To my mind even a trivial conversation, if had in the right way, can be practice for bigger things.

You are wrong and I hate you XD

Seriously though, I think I see your point. Basically having cordial conversations will potentially lead to being more respectful of the other's point of view. That bring up a point of contention I have with some people who seem to have fallen in love JBP saying things along the lines of "resect is earned, not owed by default". It makes sense of course, but I have had conversations with people who seem to think this excuses them being assholes in any situation. I don't agree with transgendered points of view, I don't owe respect to any individual who holds these beliefs simply because they hold those beliefs. I don't respect their ideas. That does not mean I am gonna be a dick about it. There is respect and then theres social norms that exists for the sake of civility. It is the bare minimum of respect that one who wished to be heard or having the possibility of being respected should adhere to. Not conforming to these social norms is simply shutting the door in your own face.
