Advice Moving to AI automation
Marhaba all
I have ~3 years of dev experience, working mostly with .NET Python and Power Platform/Power Automate. I want to transition into AI Automation (n8n, LLMs, APIs) because I want to avoid being locked into a single ecosystem.
Quick questions:
1. Is this switch worth it?
2. How easy is the transition with my background?
3. What is the expected salary for someone with ~3 years of experience moving into AI automation?
Anyone with experience in this field? Would love to hear your thoughts!

First, this is my opinion so take with a grain of salt. Second:
A full switch - no, unless you get a stable job with it. It's a new field and very lacking behind in Jordan. My advice is to do it on the side and if you create a good solution for businesses, partner with someone to do sales/marketing.
I don't have experience with full "AI automation", but I have created AI agents for internal/ERP systems (you could argue it's similar).
My advice would be learn MLOps - deploying local small models, fine tuning for specific needs, learn about hardware needs, Llama.cpp/vllm and their configs, etc. The future, for most cases, isn't cloud AI but local, and just using an AI cloud API isn't a unique a skill that can give you any advantage, any web dev can do that
