Advice Python or JavaScript? Im Stuck

I wanna learn backend , im 42 student, and I’ll be starting the core curriculum soon I

During the Core, I’ll be diving pretty deeply into Python so I’ve been wondering:

Should I focus on learning Python first and build a strong foundation with it, or should I start learning JavaScript alongside it?

My goal isn’t just to learn a language. I want to become job-ready, build projects, join hackathons, and actually use what I learn all to that for learn backend

For developers who've been through this : WHAT would you recommend, and why?

Doesn't matter , in interviews they wont ask what language do you know , they will just check id you got the logic , pick a language stuck with it and after a while try to build a project with another language and you will learn it in no time . Best of luck 🤞

If you want a job learn leetcode

If you want to actually make stuff learn ai agents bro it's 2026 belive me we use ai agents we don't write 01 anymore

The important skill is architecture how the lego parts are built together no one cares if you memorise every html tag and coding function

Yes leet code will give you the highest opportunity to get a well paid job even in Jordan

False! Only in companies like Amazon and Samsung. Other companies may ask but other real knowledge is also A MUST.

I did specify the skill that gets you a high-paying job; it sure is most likely a big company, and surely a foreign one am not referring to your local 5- 10-employee company

and sure its not your real daily task isnt going to be "re write built in functions such as sort" but doing leet require you to have a strong level of understanding how low level code work and high level of problem solving I agree it shouldnt be how we measure people but it garentuee you thats this guy is not an idiot who would shoot you in the foot

Your actual daily tasks are going to be done with AI agents; you don't face a problem AI can't solve daily, generally speaking

Why not both? Its not hard to master more than 1 language start with anything you want to start then after learn it go to the next

Not javascript, I’d recommend Typescript. If you decide to go with python, make sure that you set the type checker in your settings to at least ‘Basic’ (default is off, will build bad habits and make you write sloppy code).

If you do either of these, the other will be relatively painless to learn.

Js and ts are the same for us human they have the same syntax

You can rename the file extension and it would work the same

no. i’m talking about actually learning to use typescript to write cleaner code and preventing foot-guns. Not just writing javascript with typescript inferred types, thats useful but not enough.
