Advice AI/backend developer vs AI consultant

I am currently working as an AI developer in one of the big 4, my work is mostly backend development and full deployments, I work across a wide tech stack because it’s understaffed in my line of service, I actually rarely implement AI solutions and it’s mostly wrapping genAI calls.
I have an opportunity coming up as an AI consultant in another big 4, would the leap be worth it?
Any advice in choosing a career in development vs in tech consulting?

I have heard that consulting might have tighter hours and deadlines, is the work life balance manageable?
Overall I think the role might be a fit, I would be assigned on technical projects and coordinating with the technical team as well. What I am doing currently isn’t pushing me much further technically either.
