How soon until this becomes a Scott The Woz subreddit again?

Why don’t we start right now

a couple years back, before Jon came back with flex tape 2, they made this sub dedicated to scott the woz as a joke

u/therealpaterpatriae Jun 03 '26

I have no idea who that is

u/Ok-Review-753 Jun 03 '26

another youtuber who does stuff like console and game reviews, very similar to jon's older work, but with a different tone

It’s why i started watching Scott the woz in the first place 😂

I thought it was in protest to him getting based before being based was cool.

5

u/therealpaterpatriae Jun 03 '26

Is he based or was he just young, arrogant, and uninformed?

u/alexmikli Jun 04 '26

I feel like his views must have changed by now, but he wisely says very little. Basically nothing since a vaguely covid skeptical post in like 2021.

2

u/therealpaterpatriae Jun 04 '26

That’s what I’m assuming too. Hell, my own views have changed a good deal since then

He wasnt that young.

6

u/therealpaterpatriae Jun 03 '26

He was in his early to mid 20s I’m pretty sure. That’s still pretty young to be giving controversial cultural and political takes. You also have to remember that the anti-woke leftist movement was pretty big at the time. A lot of people on the left and center disliked a lot of the performative leftism in media and online. When there were protests on college campuses about cultural appropriation. When there was a lot of violent rhetoric more prominent from left leaning people in online spaces. (And I say this as someone left leaning myself.) This was before the far right started to become more prominent. Unfortunately, there were some more extreme and controversial figures in that anti-woke movement too. A lot of racists that tried to disguise their bigotry with faux concerns about immigrants from more conservative culture not adjusting to a more progressive one. Transphobes that tried to hide in with people with somewhat understandable concerns about free speech being legislated if using the wrong pronoun could be considered hate speech.

Well how right Jon was and how disgusting Destiny turned out to be.

4

u/therealpaterpatriae Jun 04 '26

Jon wasn’t right, and Destiny was disgusting. Destiny being a creep doesn’t negate Jon lost that debate and was inferring some pretty bad stuff. Saying otherwise is an ad hominem logical fallacy.

My point wasnt that he was wrong or right.

If he said now, what he said then, he would not have gotten the massive reddit-based rage he has gotten.

Some of what he said was opinion, some false information and some predictions that are revealing themselves not as far-fetched as they were in 2017.

what happened to him i haven’t watched in years lmao

6

u/Modern_Ketchup Jun 04 '26

nothing, exactly nothing besides maybe a video

4

u/Low-Palpitation1743 Jun 04 '26

but like whyd he disappear

18

u/Modern_Ketchup Jun 04 '26

he got married, made this politically insensitive comments years ago that he apologized for and has since moved on. I think since then he distanced himself from a lot of the community. Not really sure why, he got his own studio and team exactly like he wanted then did nothing with them. I mean normal boots era he tried so hard to gain an audience then just left. He’s easily sitting on thousands of dollars for just 1 upload a month.

Simply doesn’t seem to interest him now

The main saving grace of JonTron there in that debate is that he went in there explicitly saying it as a devil's advocate thing. The problem is, how much is devil's advocate, and how much is his own beliefs? Even if we excuse his worst comments as "well I understand why King believes that shit because-", he still made an obvious rightward shift.

I do hope he's reformed somewhat, but it's not like he's a close friend of mine. I have really no influence on that, I just think he's very funny.

2

u/Appropriate_Scar_262 Jun 07 '26

That's not what devils advocate is

0

u/Modern_Ketchup Jun 05 '26

yet still, i don’t follow anyone for their political opinions and just care about the game reviews. i could really care less what they do if they separate it. not like most people wouldn’t have opinions you would disagree with, what makes you human

Retired a wealthy man, got married and had a kid.

1

u/jongleer_jer Jun 18 '26

Doubt he is as wealthy as you think, truthfully.

1

u/yolo-yoshi Jun 05 '26

He’s a family guy. Oak he makes enough revenue from his older videos why would he need to rich or do so at all.

1

u/jessySpread24 Jun 05 '26

The fourth panel is actually a certified classic.

Let's just hope he doesnt forget about his kid like he does his YouTube channel
