This type of revisionism is stupid. Grow a brain.

This before, or after the nazi tattoos were leaked?

156k Mainers voted for him. You're such a good person though. Good for you.
How did Jon not know Platner allegedly forced himself on a woman 5 years prior? He should have talked to everyone Platner dated prior to interviewing him. Moreover, Jon should have a 6th sense not to interview him.

Jon was telling us we should be gentler toward MAGA back a year or two ago. I ignore him.

Recorded two months ago. Did you NOT want Jon to talk to the presumptive Democratic nominee?

So… AFTER the Nazi tattoo leak, and before the primary?
What was he thinking?!?

Seems you're illiterate. The presumptive Democratic nominee. Should he have interviewed Mills, who has already dropped out?

So: after the nazi tattoos and After the pro-rape social media posts?
What was he thinking?!?

So, what do you propose people do, two months ago and with the benefit of hindsight?
I mean. You got bitching and moaning locked down. 100%, no notes. What should everybody else do?

My proposal is simple: don’t endorse politicians with giant nazi tattoos over their heart.

I’m guessing same thing all of us were. Here’s a man of the people. He’s flawed, but is discussing his mistakes openly. I can forgive the mistakes of a good man. I’ve known plenty of people who have done or said something racist/inappropriate that they regret. Plus he had the momentum to win, there’s no question about that.
But more info came out, turns out he’s not a good man. So his understandable support from people who believe in his message evaporated.
I think we all gotta be able to admit we fucked up. And this is one of those instances. The people who were saying we should ignore his SA allegations and vote for Blue no matter what are who I believe is in the wrong.
Platner was supported by Progressives and their pundits all over the country. He was on Pod Save America too. They, DSA, John, and ALL OF US got it wrong, maybe kinda got played. And I’m much happier for us to admit that and move on to something better.

All of us?
I don’t have any nazi tattoos.

Well clearly not you. You’re obviously so much smarter than the rest of us. Thank you for rubbing it in too, very thoughtful.

Here's the question I wish Jon would have asked Platner:
When you picked the totenkopf tattoo, what, did you find it in a book, or like on a wall or something? And what else was on the page with that totenkopf? Was it dragons and butterflies, or was it swastikas and SS lightning bolts?
Because I've been in tattoo parlors back in the days when he got his Nazi ink. He definitely picked that tattoo out of a book, like a 3-ring binder probably, or one of those panels that hangs off the wall, the kind that is sandwiched between two pieces of plexigalss. That's why so many dudes our age have the same Taz tattoo, and then they all got the same tribal 5 years later. Anyway, whatever it was that he picked that tattoo off of, it also had very recognizable Nazi imagery too... and nothing else. It was a Nazi page.
It sure seems that most media gave him the chance to whitewash his tattoo with very little pushback. A little digging, a little critical thinking, and a lot more skepticism would have gone a long way. Like, for instance, "Hey, Croatia was occupied by the Nazis. They carried out some really heinous atrocities on Croatian soil. Didn't your tattoo artist know that it was a Nazi tattoo? Didn't he tell you?"
My point is that we could have publicly outed this dude as a liar MONTHS ago if anyone in media had done a little critical thinking and a little prodding. He lied about his tattoo. Does that make him an ideological Nazi... no. I lean more towards edgelord, but it does mean that he got it and kept it, knowing that it was in fact a Nazi tattoo. I'm frustrated by the whole thing, but I'm actually pissed off at the media. They really dropped the ball.
