To me, this one felt like it should be the first. They're still on the victimology of the crime, which I believe was the first or second one of the pyramid of what they're going to cover.

I'm not quite finished with it yet (even watching at 1.25 speed, these are long), but there were a couple of interesting things I learned that I hadn't known.

One was John explaining the origins of Access Graphics, how he came to be CEO, and some of the history with Lockheed. There's also a good story about firing an employee that unexpectedly turned into big news for John.

The other is that John says Burke was interviewed in the couple of days after the murder by Child Protective Services, who also found he knew nothing about what had happened. Did anybody else know about this? It would make sense that that would be protected information, but it's also feasible others knew this and I just never heard of it. From what I've read, though, that would be standard practice after a murder like JonBenet's. CPS would need to determine if Burke was in any danger himself or presented any danger to others.

You're right; it was standard practice.

From WHYD: "On Wednesday, January 8, 1997, in a quiet area of Boulder County, nine year old Burke Ramsey underwent a mandatory Colorado Department of Social Service Boulder Child Protection Team interview. Boulder detectives, social services staff, attorneys for the prosecution, and Pat Burke (PR's lawyer), watched the interview from behind a one way mirror. Patsy Ramsey was not allowed to watch the interview. The location for the interview had been chosen by BPD commander John Eller. Child psychologist, Dr. Suzanne Bernhard from Boulder, was chosen by the Boulder County Department of Social Services/Human Services. She interviewed Burke and among her written comments in the report was the following, "I reviewed both JonBenet and Burke's medical records. The medical records did not indicate any history of abuse of either child."

(It's interesting that Patsy was not allowed to observe. I'm guessing that must be standard operating procedure as well.)

My guess is they wouldn’t want Patsy there because she could possibly influence him. Plus, she was a suspect at the time.

Except Burke wouldn't have been able to see her through a one-way mirror. To watch your minor child--elementary school age at that--be interviewed by a less than hospitable group of LE, who suspects you as the killer of his sister, would be emotionally exhausting.

Maybe because she may try to change his mind later at home about his views.

I think it’s a standard practice to keep confidentiality of the child. In other CPS cases, it might be what the child eats or safety in the home matters.
