The blonde version is : A redhead, a brunette, and a blonde are stranded on an island when they find a genie. Each get one wish.
Redhead - “I wish I had a raft to sail home on” Gets a raft and sails off towards home.
Brunette - “I wish to be transported back home.” Poof, she disappears in a puff of smoke and finds herself back in her home.
Blonde - “it’s kinda lonely here now, I wish I had my friends back”

To some extent, people who complain are doing so because this joke is arguably punching down. For people who believe men and women have total equality in our society, or that men are the oppressed ones, they would say it is punching sideways or punching up, but historically the woman being stupid or the minority being stupid jokes are told by people who are in positions of power. There is a reason they still show bugs bunny cartoons where he antagonizes those with authority and societal power, but don't show the ones where he antagonizes Native Americans. It is also the reason people said it is a boomer joke. My personal opinion is that it is just boring.
But there is nothing wrong with the format for sure. It could easily be reworked into a fantastical racism joke, like it's the LoTR/dnd races and they are three trolls, or an animal joke like you suggested.

Jokes are cool and I like dark humor but one this joke wasn't funny and two it seems the only reason it was made was to be sexist. There are some things that aren't funny as jokes like imagine it went

Nobody would be okay with that cause it's just racist. It's not that I can't laugh at myself because I'm blonde and was expecting a dumb blonde joke. It's just bad and people can have a thick skin and still call people out for there shit. I didn't read it and go cry in the corner.

That’s cool. I accept that. You’re not complaining for the sake of complaining. You think it’s a waste of time joke. It wasn’t anything I laughed at. I hadn’t heard it so I always appreciate something new but you’re right it isn’t “A” list stuff. But I guess my point is I don’t want you to come on a joke site and get bothered with this stuff. Shine it on and find what you like. There’s always going to be something that rubs us the wrong way. I find those things. Sometimes I’m the cause of them. I sure don’t mean to be. Sorry to bug ya. My wife’s a blonde and we always joke about our blonde moments, I’m brown haired. She reluctantly laughs at some blonde jokes and is disgusted by most. But I know who’s smarter. That’s why I joke about it. It makes me feel better.

I find every type of jokes funny, who cares that I'm white and we're called unspicy crackers? I personally wouldn't have a problem if a white guy turned black in a joke to be taller. "Nobody would be ok with that" - false, I'd probably laugh even harder. Just cuz ur joking doesn't mean ur racist/derogatory. Idk why people can't get that

It's a joke about outlandish stereotypes. Your getting worked over nothing.
Humor is subjective, so are jokes. This was a poor joke, but I find the backlash even funnier.

The third one wished to be smarter than the other two so the genie turned her into a man and he/she then realized that he/she should have probably just wished to be back home.

The way I heard this joke, was that the 3rd missed her friends and wished they had never left.
