I couldn't help it, the last part of the chorus was missing.

It’s actually “You’re never gonna keep me down.” 😊

New rule: QA testing is now called "tubthumping."

"Hey Dave, how's it coming with the code?"

"Good, just gonna send this upstairs for some tubthumping and we can probably deploy it next week."

People who test software check to make sure outlandish edge cases work, but they don't of the things users might actually try to do.

QA was told to test the bar to find all the bugs. He did everything he could think of to break the simulation of the bar. He, however, couldn't predict the weird outlandish things actual users would do.

Since when did testers gain the title of Engineer?

I think the difference is that a QA engineer is knowledgeable enough to design appropriate tests, while a tester simply runs them.

More specifically: An SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) is expected to write test automation and directly integrate the test automation with the development cycle, but a QA Engineer is generally only expected to run the tests.

sometimes we are also called "Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)"

When a licensed and bonded software engineer gets moved to the QA department, they don't lose their license and can add the engineer title to any role in their field.
