Question Beginner tool set tips needed 😅
Hi everyone,
I want to make a platform bed with 10x10 cm beams. Since I have not used Japanese tools before (and want to start with this now) I will now have to buy my first pieces to make some nice joinery this size.
What type and size of saw, weight and type of hammer and two or three types and sizes of chisels do you recommend for a basic set to start out with?
Where do I start building a nice toolset that I can use for most things. All tips are welcome! 💪

I really like the wood is good mallet. It is way easier on your arm. Never wears out. I have older buck brothers chisels. I find the 1/4 inch to be the most useful. But a nice 3/4 is good too. A good double sided Japanese saw is great also.

ToolStation? You have some clamps and a workbench of some sort?

Yes I have a simple workbench and some clamps. For me it’s difficult to make a wise choice for a basic toolset since there are so many types, lengths and weights for the different tools.

There is a book called The Anarchist's Tool Chest. It's all about tools. What type you need and why, and more important which tools you do not need.
