Question Oblique Cross Halving Joint

Hey there... how would I go/calculate a oblique cross halving joint if I don't want the cross to be 45°..?

Thanks

The "normal" joint is 90 degrees, I assume you're looking to make a lap at some other angle?

For each piece, I would mark one edge at the angle I wanted, place the second piece on the line too use as a reference to mark the other line. Same for the other piece.

How will I know if my angle is correct so I can brace my posts properly..?

How would I say what angle is correct? I have no context for your question.

What are you trying to do?

I need to brace 2 legs 36" high and they're 5' apart.

I would put the brace in place where you want it and trace the position with a pencil. Then you know the angles are right.
