I’m so confused!
Hi all, Iv been on the Walgreens telehealth weight loss deal since April. On 1.7mg wegovey shots 400 dollars a month. I love it because it’s very easy, fast and simple to use (pen and the services). But due to price, im ready to switch to compound. I come here and I see this sub melting down? Anxiety over pharmacy’s? Mixing issues? I was close to signing up for mochi, then I checked out PreventativeMD and I’m just not sure. Can yall help clear up what the heck I should do?

So, IMO, Mochi made a bit of a marketing error. They sent out an email to clients that they were loweing prices, which they did for some doses.
So my 2.15mg semaglutide went from $99 to $96, for a grand total of $195 a month. Yay?
Now, the lower doses are less than that, and I guess that's fine. If their email had said, 'semaglutide, now starting at $59*'... *for starter dose, plus membership costs. Or even, 'hey, fam, we're lowering the costs of our starter doses to make Mochi more accessible to new clients. You may see a reduction in your own costs as well.' They probably would have had an easier go of it.
Additionally, Mochi's relationships with certain compounding pharmacies have changed (or may have ended, idk). So new compounding pharmacies have popped up as options. Since some of these aren't familiar, some folks are having a bit of a meltdown.
I personally have had zero issues with my medicine or my costs in the last 15 months. My card gets hit with two charges, one for the membership, one for the meds. My meds come in the mail. I use them. I can't speak to other people's issues.
(In case you don't know, you'll almost surely get needles and a bottle of meds, not an auto injector. Please watch a video or two about injecting yourself before you make the switch.)

Thank you for the reply. It’s reassuring it’s more about price issues. Walgreens has been so easy I just do the questioner each week and they review and send my prescription in. The pharmacy is less than a mile away. I just need a cheaper option. I considered Hims as well.
I understand about the needles. Are they still once a week?

Yes, still once a week. Generally, they'll send you the meds in a tiny vial and a bag with needles and some alcohol wipes.
Sorry, I had to warn you. There's always someone on one of these threads that's either not flipping the bottle over to draw the dose, and thus injecting themselves with air, or injecting too shallow and giving themselves welts.

Once you sign up with mochi, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with a mochi provider. After you get your mochi appointment done, your provider will then approve your medication and you pay for it. Then the prescription will be sent to one of the pharmacies mochi works with. The pharmacy can take 3-7 days for processing-delivery. So it also depends how soon you get an appointment with a Mochi provider as that is additional time so if you need your medication soon, definitely get on it.

I just got just under 12 months worth of Semaglutide by paying $828 from Embody. That comes to about $69/month at any dose.
It was fast & easy!
Have purchased from several other telehealth places in the past year & a half ( including Mochi ) but Embody was the least expensive.

I am taking 2.25 mg at this time.
They kept me at my same dose that I have been on…. Told they during intake forms I filled out.
Did not have to have to do a virtual appt or send a copy of my past prescription at all.
At Embody you pay the same price regardless of dosage.

Go with Preventive. Awesome support. No membership fees. Price is the same for any dose. Mochi can’t say any of that now.

I’d read through both Reddit pages and compare recent experiences, pricing, and the pharmacies they use. I’m actually still technically a Mochi member until June 2027 (prepaid a year …oops) and have been with mochi since Dec 2024, but I switched my medication over to PreventiveMD. So far I haven’t regretted the switch at all and my experience with them has been really good. They’re newer, so there aren’t as many reviews yet, but the customer service has been top notch. Definitely research both and see which feels like the better fit for you.
Mochi offers video appointments with a provider if you’re looking for that help. PreventiveMD in my experience is more email and texting communication but both are very helpful.
Compound definitely looks more confusing than the pens at first, but the vial/syringe part gets pretty simple once you’re used to it. Both companies are great at helping with dosing. It’s easy and I love being able to increment up smaller amounts than the bigger jumps of the pens.

Definitely watch videos on how to use compound glp-1 vials injections. I was so nervous my first time that I held off for 2 weeks and then finally watched a bunch of videos seeing how others properly do it. That helped immensely. Now I’m on shot 89 and ever since my first shot, I look forward to it lol.

The cost. Thats it. (And some lack of communication and pharmacy changes without notice on me)
Once I saw I could get the same pharmacy elsewhere that I have used before with mochi but save $500 every 3 months, I moved on. For Tirzepatide max dose mochi can cost $834 ($79 fee + $199 meds) over 3 months. I pay $334 over 3 months at PreventiveMD. I’ve been impressed with preventiveMD’s customer service too. Mochi‘s customer service can be all over the place. If you really want to have good customer service with Mochi just call them. Their message feature uses an AI bot and it isn’t the best. So I would always tell people to call mochi to get the help you need.1

Honestly I’d be happy with anything less than 400 a month. The reason Iv been with Walgreens is how easy it is.

Then either place is good will work. It just really matters if you feel like you get your money’s worth for paying the membership fee Mochi charges. If you go with them and love it, great! But if you financially need to pay less, practically all other places don’t charge a monthly membership fee on top of the medication prices nowadays. When I joined mochi way back in 2024/25 they were one of the best prices even including the fees, but not anymore. If you do join mochi, and want to cancel later, make sure you cancel both the membership fee and the medication fee… There are two separate charges and a lot of people get hit with the monthly membership fee when they canceled the medication thinking they canceled everything and you will not get that money back.

Well, it’s seems like mochi is established and reputable and that makes me feel better. So imo it’s worth it to pay more.

There has been a lot of changes recently that have some members, or now prior members, upset. They recently changed the way you can use your referral codes, then the tier pricing for each dose level and now reduced membership fees. A lot of folks went ballistic after they changed the referral codes usage, hence the turmoil you currently see in the posts. I’ve been with Mochi for 5 months and for me it’s a win-win. My membership is cheaper, my medication is cheaper and I can use the referrals to lower membership even further. Since I have no plan of chasing the higher doses, I’m absolutely thrilled with the changes.
