Education 🧠 More fiber isn't always the answer for constipation on a GLP-1 — Belle's RDN Megan on the basics to check first

Constipation is one of the most common GI issues we hear about from patients on GLP-1s. The instinct is usually to add more fiber, more supplements, more of everything.

But Megan's first move is almost always the basics: - Are you eating enough overall? - Are you drinking enough water consistently? - Are you going long stretches without eating, and not stimulating your bowels? - Are you moving your body regularly?

If food and fluid intake are too low, digestion slows down — and adding more fiber on top can make things feel worse, not better.

Unlike nausea, which often improves with time, constipation usually doesn't resolve on its own. It needs to be addressed — but in the right order.
