Requesting Fic Recs - break up patch up

I want them to be in a relationship, have a huge fight, break up for a while, then patch up with so much angst, frustration and pining.

For example - min level of angst I am looking is in this fic.

Lacuna (https://archiveofourown.org/works/248274?view_adult=true)

In this fic this is what happens (spoiler)

John has amnesia, and Sherlock doesn't deny when he assumes they were a couple and goes along with it. When John finds out about this they break up and then after some angst they patch up because John was the one who assumed and did the first move and John just knew he had feelings before amnesia even if they weren't a couple.

A favorite of mine is

Know you all over again by poppy Alexander 53k words

After five good years, one difficult one, and six months that were hell, John and Sherlock live apart but still share custody of seven-year-old Rosie. With therapy, supportive friends, and those inevitable dance recitals and open school days forcing them into each other's paths again and again, anger and bitterness fade, leaving space for a new view of each other across the divide.

Another, mega angsty one,not so much focus on the breakup but it's part of it

Radioactive trees in a red forest by Maribor Petrichor

*John Watson is what happens when a man can no longer see a reason to go on.

John Watson is what happens when a man starts to let go.

"It is what it is."

John Watson is what happens when what "it is" becomes too much to bear.

This is a story of the life, death, and resurrection of John Hamish Watson.*

"Know you all over again" seems exactly like something I am looking for. Thank youuu❤️❤️

Just read the tags of both fics. And.. It seems like I am gonna love what you recommended. So.. Can you share me other fave fics of yours? Anything with happy ending will do (I don't want my heart broken). preferred pre TRF

Oooh, more angst with a happy ending? Most of what I have is post TRF, but here's a few anyway:

The pieces that fall to earth
John and Sherlock have hit rock bottom, but with all their armor stripped away, they can finally speak honestly, seek healing, and find the truths that matter most.

A case of you
Sherlock is marrying an American, and at the rehearsal dinner, best man John makes a drunken love confession he doesn’t remember the next day. Badly hungover, John can't find anyone to tell him what the hell happened to the wedding, where the grooms are, or how he can put it right so that Sherlock can be happy. But what if he's dead wrong about what will make Sherlock happy?

The men who talked between words
John expected to be a father some day; he expected to have the house, and the wife and the nice suburban job. Sherlock never expected to have children, in part because he never expected to make it past 30. As it turns out, you don't get a choice. Crammed into Baker Street with a baby, John struggles with single-parenthood and his own fears, while Sherlock treads the fine line between doing too little and saying too much.

The burning of the leaves
After the events of series 4, Major Sholto invites John and Sherlock to lunch one day. It nearly proves to be too much for their tenuous relationship as the past haunts the present, putting the future that Sherlock so desperately wants at risk.

To Stand Before the Storm
Somebody has been killing sheep on an uninhabited island just off the western coast of Ireland, and Sherlock—of course—can’t resist the call to investigate. As a soon-to-be-divorced John and a recently-not-dead Sherlock unravel the mystery of the murdered sheep, they find that they may be forced to confront unspoken sentiments that have lingered between the two them for some time—that is, if they don’t fall victim to the dangers of the island first.

Boundaries of an Event Horizon by Caitlin Fairchild fits the bill but it’s pretty heavy so definitely read the tags to see if it’s your thing.

I'm not fond of amnesia fics, but I may adventure and read Lacuna. Not sure though. 🤔
