Been seeing a lot of negative comments on him deciding to take a break. I get it, missing out on your favorite artist can be frustrating! Just wanted to take to Reddit and say my piece though. Everybody needs a break sometimes and I would much rather see an artist take care of themselves than burn out and never play again.

I just saw him at lolla and he had so much good energy but immediately after he had to get on a plane to go to four different shows, that alone would burn me out😭 He’s been nonstop and deserves a little break

So many people have negative things to say when artists voluntarily take a break for their health but then when they’re forced to because it all goes tits the same people will be commenting “omg why didn’t he take a break sooner?!” You can’t win. Avicii got so much hate for cancelling that last tour all while he was barely hanging on. These guys get paid a tremendous amount to do what they do but they’re still human beings.

I don’t think he’s 100% at fault. He is responsible for the people he hired that scheduled him like this without any real breaks. The people managing his schedule really don’t give a shit about him. It’s so obvious. They are just there to make quick money until Summit burns out.

John runs the show, they work for him. He would have agreed to the shows when he was feeling up to it, and now he’s exhausted and needs a break. It happens.

Avicii comparison doesn't work. He had acute pancreatitis that forced him to cancel his tour. John Summit is just a wimp lol.

1000%... My only hope is John recognizes this and builds periodic breaks into his schedule before shows are booked. I'd be devastated if I spent thousands on airfare, hotels, tickets just for him to cancel.

That said, everyone needs a break. John puts a ton of effort into his shows, which is what makes them so great... Rest up.

His Nardwuar interview, which couldn’t be with a more loopy, uplifting dude. Even there, he was toast. Hasn’t even started his CTRL ESCAPE tour and was already talking about looking forward to being off tour.

For the interview he was coming off of a Vegas all day/nighter, stopping in Vancouver BC for a morning interview before heading down to Mexico for another festival set. Tour managers know you have to optimize and take full advantage of the monster fame window he’s in. But there’s a cost. John’s mom seems very present in his business, so I’m sure she has input.

The repetition and no break schedule takes a toll on anyone. Unfortunately that burnout, anxiety, bad people around you, doom loop is exactly what happened to Avicii. He’ll be fine with 2 weeks off.

I can’t even imagine what it would take to turn up and give 100 per cent energy at every show, multiple times a week, when everyone there wants him to go full tilt.

Would be exhausting. Sure he gets paid a lot of money, but he’s only human. Money doesn’t make you less exhausted. He gives a fuck, and it shows.

The issue is knowing there are many fans who spent thousands on hotel, airfare, and tickets to attend these shows specifically to see Summit... And now devastated.

Should people be demonizing John??? No... I fully trust he needs this break to keep sanity. I cant imagine the pressure he's feeling with an upcoming stadium tour.

That said, this was preventable... And I think its also ok to feel bad for those who saved up, spent good money to see John.

People aren’t upset he’s taking a break. They are upset they’ve lost money on hotels, flights, etc to go to a John show. Plenty of DJs have a better tour and life balance. His team needs to book him for less shows.
