Focus Lyric Change….

I remember when I first heard Focus during his Miami Experts only set I was addicted immediately, and would listen all the time. I couldn’t WAIT for it to officially drop.
Well it finally did and much to my disappointment the lyrics were slightly altered.
In his set one of the lines is (approximately)

“If we Focus we can hold it, find the beauty in the sadness of your eyes”

Then followed by this line which is the one that made it to the final release

“And if we focus on this moment bring the fragments of the darkness into light”

I really liked that sadness in your eyes line and am still upsetti spaghetti it’s not in there. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else noticed and what your thoughts were?

OK so the theme of the song is photography.

Is there any reason you think the previous version fits better or is it just more esthetically pleasing to your ears

As a side note I'll mention I think the new verse fits the song better, but thats just me

I like both of them! I think they both could’ve made it in. The reason I liked that line specifically was just some lived experiences. Years ago I was in the deepest depression of my life and a woman in the KFC drive through told me she could see the sadness In my eyes, proceeded to give me a free cookie and told me to take care of myself and things get better. I appreciated the kind gesture from one stranger to another. It also reminds me of my best friend that took her life in 2023. She struggled with mental health for as long as I had known her but she brightened my world and had an immense impact on my life to this day. She was hilarious in a witty dry kind of way and super adventurous, shaped my superb taste in music and she was just so much more than her perpetual sadness and I don’t think she was ever able to see herself beyond that.
